Freebies for everybody... and those that get the freebies don’t pay taxes anyway... does it get any better than this. The Welfare State is alive and well.... more foodstamps, anyone?
That was my first thought: this means Obama is sunk come November. Well, he would be, if there were such thing as a fair, clean, honest electoral process.
I am intensely sick of the “We are so screwed” attitude exhibited by many on FR.
We are only screwed—It is the end of America—Only if we the people allow it to happen.
Had George Washington assumed this mindset—Something that easily could have happened given the many set-backs dealt to the Continental Army—We’d still be British subjects.
Life, and liberty, require effort.
I, for one, plan to go-down swinging.
The Romans refused to accept that military defeat in the field, after military defeat in the field, after yet another military defeat in the field; meant the end of Rome. They continued to resist and fight for what they believed in.
Similarly - American liberty took a HUGE hit today - but the war is only over if we decide we have been beaten.
One silver lining is that the SCOTUS decided AT LAST that there was at least ONE big fat ugly ‘camel’ that couldn't be threaded through the ‘eye of the needle’ called “the interstate commerce clause”.
0bamacare may or may not survive as legislation - let us all hope that after November it's days are numbered - but the ruling that the interstate commerce clause is not a COMPLETELY blank check of power will no doubt be cited for as long as America and the concept of a government of limited and enumerated powers endures.
The only hope for future Americans now is simply the bankruptcy of the Federal Govt. maybe we can start over on a different path.

Just curious, how is Romneycare different from Obamacare?
Here is what I’m thinking. I am 60 y/o. I have been working and paying taxes since I was 16. I have played by the rules, never asked the government for anything and got just what I asked for. I have no children to worry about. I have been fighting the conservative fight since college with some successes. But I am tired. My young relatives all think O’Bama walks on water. So from now on I am going to see just how much free stuff I can get from the Feds. If we are going to become Greece then I want my stuff now before it is too late. What is a little $16T deficit when there are freebies to be had. Bring it on. I’m not going to be around to see the country devolve into European style socialism and I’m not going to have to pay for the result thereof. Let the O’Bama loving 30 somethings and their kids pay the bills. They love him they can pay for him. (end of rant)
I am weighing my options. I am considering joining the dark side and bringing the new Soviet Union down in any way I can.
