The Egyptian Military is the stabilizing force in Egypt. You may take power but you will never hold power unless you have their backing.

And the Egyptian military is not going to back any group that is bucking for war with the Israelis. They have been there and done that and have a whole collection of t-shirts.

Mostly they have quietly, with and without their governments official blessing, worked with Israel to keep the people that they regard as the real trouble makers in Gaza under control.
