Yesterday on a thread FReeper marron was very good to discribe her very own Financial SHTF experience. Seeing what is more than likely coming our way I believe her post to be extremely valuable information and I am posting it here again to make sure that as many FReepers read it.
Thank you marron the firsthand expereince and the information you shared is priceless to those currently prepping and should be eye opening to those that aren't.

This is by far the more likely scenario that may have to be dealt with. A complete, sudden collapse certainly could happen, but more likely is the scenario where life simply becomes one long, dreary struggle just to live. Long lines, constant shortages of basic supplies, and spending most of one’s day worrying and scheming about where to get the next day’s family rations.

You are making the assumption that “it can’t happen here”.
Defend that assumption, show me what it is about the American psyche that is soooo very different from the psyches of 1930s German, post Vietnam Cambodian, Mao’s China, Hutu and Tutsi Rwanda...
If the SHTF, what guarantee is there that there will be ANY government. After all, if a government clerk isn’t paid for three months, he/she has to find a way to get food and water to survive.
Does anybody think that our benevolent Congresscritters would hang around for no pay? I think that anarchy is a more likely scenario, when the SHTF. Think Mad Max.

But I do think that our benevolent Congresscritters will figure out a way to get paid even if no one else in our government is.
Americans aren’t Nazis death camp operators, and Communist mass murderers just waiting to emerge.
Americans REAL Americans can’t stand chaos. It will take a bit, but once what has happen sets in and becomes real we will do what we have always done grab a shovel, an axe, a fire hose, a gun or what ever and do what has to be done.
And low be it on those who caused the chaos and who participated in it, because a day of reckoning will be at hand and it won’t be pretty.
Neither were 1920's Germans, 1900's Russians or 1930's Chinese.

I only wish I could contribute; but then, considering the situation here in Florida, I may be on the front lines reporting on the days of rage.
I am stating the fact that I believe Obama is workign for puppetmasters who are hell-bent on collapsing the America we live in because We The People and our dwindling sovereignty are the last major obstacle to a real agenda many do not see or refuse to acknowledge. Do you really think they live like they do on their government salary? No way. They are partying hardy on their kick backs and various under the table deals. Those monies will still be there and more so in the middle of a hit the fan environment. Yeah, they'll stay right where they are but somehow manage to do less good for the citizens.
Germans were/are the largest single European group to immigrate to the USA.
I read that recently and was suprised too.
Sadly most real Americans are getting on in age. The rest have spent 12 plus years being indoctrinated in public schools and by popular media.
