In remarks today in Minnesota, President Obama said he hoped people would buy a "thingamajig":
(Video at link)
"I assume there are some folks here who could use $3,000 a year," Obama said. "Let's get that done right now. That means they're -- you know, if you got $3,000 a year extra, that helps you pay down your credit cards. That helps you go out and buy some things that your family needs. Which is good for business. Maybe somebody will be replacing some thingamajig for their furnace."

a “thingamajig”
I don’t understand.
If Obama had preceded his statement by saying, “Let me be clear,” and/or “Make no mistake about it,” I might have understood.
He must not have explained it well enough or, more likely, I’m just too stoopid to understand since he’s cogitating on a much higher level than all of us—except a few Field Medal winners and a handful of rocket surgeons.
Or maybe Bush spread some sort of `brain fog’ that .... ///

Wasn’t it Hillary Clinton said taxpayers would just waste the money, that government knew how to spend it better?

Apparently he wants us all to run up debt like the government. I’ll agree as long as I can print my own money like the goobermint.

He should of said Americans need an extra $3,000 or more to replace their light bulbs. Those bulbs do look very much like a thingamajig.

Rep. Fred Upton will introduce a bill banning “thingamajigs”. People will have to buy “doohickeys” instead.

Cheers to that! His remarks seem to indicate that while he was visiting the Honeywell plant, he was not paying any attention to the products they make. It is hard to ‘dumb down’ a speech when neither the speech writers nor reader understand what they are talking about.

I’m going to write “How It’s Made” (a Canadian show BTW) and beg them to show us how manufactures construct a thingamajig. But everyone knows it is the widget that does all of the heavy lifting.
