Soviet historians could confidently predict the ineclutable future, but could never explain the ever changing past.

Dear Mr. Steyn,

I am completely and thoroughly **P***** that you and other so-called “conservatives” so casually dismissed the Article 2 defenders claiming is was a “technicality”. Yes, I happened to be listening the very day that you called Article 2, Section 1, of the Constitution a “technicality”.

SHAME on you for taking this long to pay attention.

Sincerely,

Wintertime

He said he was born in Kenya.

Then he spends a kabillion dollars to keep us from verifying that he was actually born in Hawaii? He destroys archives, issues a fraudulent BC and seals records.

And Rush, Coulter, Levin and Steyn defend his eligibility with more energy than democrats.

coming in 2 weeks late to this story/thread, I will advance another possible hypothesis, perhaps one already advanced.

Barak Hussain Obama was born in Hawaii, where he smoked a lot of reefer and did poorly at school. He ends up at Occidental college. At some point at Occidental College he decided he wanted to reach for more, so he fudges his transfer application to Columbia. It wasn’t enough just to be African American with those grades. It was better to be African African! So he tells them he was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and voila - suddenly a shoddy academic record can be written off to cultural bias and lessened ability to understand the language. At Columbia he did better, and decided that this was such a good little scheme that he puts it on his Harvard Law application, where they see an African who lifted himself up by his bootstraps, jumped from Occidental to Columbia where he did do better - and voila, he is in at Harvard Law. The story sticks with him to get a book deal. Not realizing he would eventually reach for the highest elected office.

Not that it really mattered. But he could say nothing - either he was really born in Kenya, or his lied his way into a career that included a nomination to the Presidency. He shuts up and hopes it wont’ matter enough, which it didn’t.
