Speaking of graceless...
Mitt who? Oh, the guy who’s left of McCain.
What was Rick supposed to do, congratulate Romney on his dishonest and sleazy campaign? Good for Rick for refusing to do so.
Toby Harnden from across the pond is almost always very astute but I think he got this one wrong.
Today was not about offering praise to Romney or even mentioning him.
Now, to let the other half of the Republican party in on the action, let's resume the primaries ~ and this time it looks like Newt, on an even slimmer budget, may be able to relegate Mitt and his evil Mittbots to the meaningless nothingness they bring to politics and themselves.
“Santorum probably hasn’t damaged Romney with his graceless speech today - but he has damaged himself.”
I disagree. I think “dissing” Romney was the only good thing about his announcement today. I’m sorry he couldn’t stay in the race and force an “open” convention where a better candidate than Romney could be selected. No one really wants Romney, many of us so much so that we won’t vote for him in a general election. This is a sure fire path to GOP decline. The convention needs another pick than Romney. Santorum’s leaving may have ended what little chance there was of that happening.
"Hey, Toby and Sam!"
Why be gracious to a bushwhacker? He’d have demeaned himself had he done so.
I have never been a Santorum supporter, but I see no reason for him to say anything about Romney. There is no reason to.
Romney is a slick snakeoil salesman that is buying his way to the WH. He can stand next to obama and I would not be able to tell the difference. They are both arrogant, condescending idiots that think all Americans are morons that will get on our knees and beg for what they are selling. obama needs to go, and by the grace of God romney will not get the nom.
I still hold hope that Newt will come out swinging. Go Newt!
I’m sorry — you are upset that Rick Santorum didn’t mention Mitt Romney, but you are voting for the guy who refused to even call Mitt Romney to concede when he lost to him....
So, why are you upset with Rick for not mentioning Romney?
I think it is refreshing not to see a man give in to the “oh let's all just get along and be friends” mentality that exists in politics today. There is no reason a resignation speech should have to become a pep rally for a man you think is wrong for America.
Romney congratulates Santorum for suspending his campaign. Romney then goes on to say that this has been a good day. And you expect that Santorum is going to go all smoochie over Mitt and throw his delegates to him. LOL
I hope Romney has enjoyed his vicious campaign tactics and that he is feeling all warm and fuzzy right now. All glory is fleeting and he is going to find out the hard way what that means.
He will soon be running against someone just like him. Where’s the popcorn?
The day before he quit, I had remarked to my wife that Ricky had all the stage presence of a guy running for town council in a very small town. BUTT even that apparently was an overreach and an insult to Town Council’s everywhere.
