Agreed. You and I both know that someone could write the drivers for that, but the question is - will they be allowed to? Could such a thing be done out in the wild?

I think the manufacturer figures there's no money in maintaining the drivers for the quirks in their less recent models. I wouldn't mind paying for driver upgrades to new operating systems, but apparently that isn't their business model.
