Its not unusual for conservative commentator Ann Coulter to tell women to stop playing the victim (and in some cases, rightfully so), but it was somewhat surprising to see the New York Times bestselling author defend The Godfather II star Robert DeNiros joke that the United States is not ready for another white first lady.
Can we please stop the fake offended routine? Pls explain what was allegedly offensive about DeNiros joke, Coulter tweeted Tuesday in the wake of Internet outrage over DeNiros wisecrack.
Coulter followed up with a retweet that provides us with a little more clarity: Its always a bad idea to imitate liberals. RT @TPCarney Its just conservatives trying to get offended [like] liberals always get.
DeNiro came under fire Tuesday when news outlets revealed that hed said at a recent New York fundraising event that its too soon for the U.S. to have another white FLOTUS:
Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?
Though the Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich campaign did not respond to my request for comment, Gingrich unloaded his beef with DeNiros statement later on in the day:
What De Niro said last night was inexcusable and the president should apologize for him. It was at an Obama fundraiser, it is exactly wrong, it divides the country.
Michelle Obama wasnt too pleased with DeNiros comment either, as her press secretarys response was, We believe the joke was inappropriate.
So the real question is, whose side are you on: Team Potential First Ladies or Team DeNiro?
“To make every single little tiny thing into some sort of battle just makes one look silly.”
Failure to do so when that’s exactly what your relentless opponents do makes one a loser.
Your analogy sucks.
Look. It’s one thing to justly respond when a left wing jerk makes foul, abusive, unwarranted comments about conservative individuals. It’s quite another to make a big hairy deal over comments a la Tom Leher or Mark Russell.
The losers are those who look petty and humorless.
A joke based on skin color is a racist joke. This was reverse racism pointed at crackers and honkies... this is not rocket science.
LLS
You’re kidding, right? It was a joke from a white actor. STOP FINDING CRAP WHERE NONE EXISTS. We have enough problems than obsessing over a comment from an actor, for God’s sake.
“The losers are those who look petty and humorless.”
See #44. I don’t find racist humor funny.
Hmmmmmmm. That might be true. But your explanation for why my analogy "sucks" is ... lacking.
This was not racist humor (although I do enjoy an occasional racial or ethnic joke).
Why in the world would I want to look as stupid as libs? And no, I’ll never “get” the kind of junk you’re trying to sell here.
Poor, naive, Hildy. |
A good analogy would be if Limbaugh asked, “is America ready for a capitalist first lady?”
Coulter’s right, DeNiro is a eunuch and Michelle Obama is a poseur.
With your mom.
..the president should apologize for him.
What gets me is “Why not all this righteous indignation when the ‘singer?’ sang the true version of “Forget You” at a Presidential function?
Of course like one of the ‘wags’ said - “That should be tagged as BO’s theme song and played while picturing ‘him’.”
DeNiro reminds me of the white attention-seeking teeny boppers, going out with black guys for attention. Cruising through the halls with feigned affection for the attention trinket.
He’s just a little older now and now he wants attention from the hollywood elites and professional race town-criers.
“Look at me, I’m enlightened...no more white First Lady’s. See, look at my black wife...I get it”
That is the joke.
The critical race theory doctrine is tops with Annie now that she’s runnin’ with the wrong crowd. LOL
