How about a brokered convention and McDonnell/Palin Ticket?
Be careful what you wish for ... you might just get it.
There was a brokered convention in 1940 and Wendell Wilkie came out of nowhere to win the nomination. He went to work for Roosevelt after losing the election. Looked like a set-up then and it still does now.
Unfortunately all we’ll get is a Jeb Bush /Mitt Romney ticket....you heard it here first /s...
A “brokered” convention is a real convention.
Thats when we find out all our delegates are secretly Ron Paul operatives. :)
Willard takes it on the first vote.
Hussein is re-elected.
America suffers.
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah...
I can feel the groundswell now.
“...Shirley said. The Republican National Committees wishes, he said, would be utterly, completely irrelevant.
They cant even buy a hot dog, Shirley quipped.”
Shirley, you jest. The RNC is made up of the Superdelegates, who are the 50 state Committeewomen, the 50 state Committeemen, plus the State Party Chairs of the Republican States!
Fine by me.
Fine by me.
In my state (West Virginia) I'm running as an "Uncommitted" delegate. I had to sign up before the end of January as either committed to a named individual or uncommitted. I choose the uncommitted role so I would be able to support whichever Anti-Romney candidate was still around. My first choices - Cain, Bachman, & Perry are already gone, so if and when I get to Tampa I'll vote for either Gingrich or Santorum (whichever can beat Willard).
Like a lot of citizens of late voting states, it's going to be nice to be able to have a part in choosing our candidate for a change. I'd like to see the recommendation approved which was made in 2008 to divide the country into four squares (NE, SE, SW, and NW) and rotate which square starts the primary season every four years. They'd all (within the square) vote on the same day with the next square voting about a month later, etc. That way we could stop the liberal states from picking our candidate for us because they insisted on being the earliest primary/caucus states.
While we're fixing the system, I'd like to stop letting Independents and Democrats vote in our primary, which also lets them pick our candidates for us. If you want to pick the Republican candidate, you should have been a registered Republican for at least the last six months!
Whoever we have at a brokered convention
Paul Ryan needs to be on the ticket.
Ryan/Gingrich
Ryan/Rommney
Ryan/Perry (my personal favorite)
These are combos that can win the race and give gravitas to the ticket
