Forget About the White House, it's Lost- Focus on Congressional Majorities to Neutralize Obama

After a disappointing night that found Newt Gingrich unable to register outright victories in the deep South, I'm left with the conclusion that the only capable conservative fighter we had left has been unfortunately tossed aside by primary voters in order to back an unqualified, low-charisma schmoe who will be pounded to smithereens in the general election if we give him the chance.
And that's a big 'if'-Santorum himself admits he cannot win the nomination anytime before the Tampa convention: an internal memo reveals the goal as a 'contested convention' (same as Gingrich has been saying for weeks).
Yeah- it
would have been nice to have a proven conservative with economic experience, a record of accomplishment, impressive
intellectual power/debating skills, and widely-appealing charm at the top of the ticket... but since Rick Santorum has none of those things, he simply cannot compete effectively with Obama.
I would describe myself as a 'right-wing Catholic'... trouble is, this one just ain't got the skills, while offering almost as weak a record of accomplishment as Obama '08. Current polls showing Santorum competitive with Obama mean nothing... wait till Plouffe and Axelrod go into attack mode and then tell me how he's holding-up. Lack of foresight has many forgetting what awaits us in the fall, I fear (one of the primary reasons I wanted to have Newt at Obama's throat, not some bumbling altar boy).
Voters are TOTALLY focused on jobs and gasoline pump prices this election year... while so many GOP primary voters rush to nominate
a proven loser with
zero economic/business experience that tends to wander-off into social issues rather than pledge $2.50 gas and a new (
Laffer-endorsed) Reagan Revolution, as
-say- Gingrich did.
All you millions who supported Newt before Romney and his PAC-men unleashed $50M in attack ads ought to be ashamed of yourselves for being so pliable- did you ever take the time to consider the source of the attacks that sent you scampering over to guaranteed-loser Rick Santorum? Or did you simply lack the heuvos and political knowledge to defend your own choice?
For me, the primary race is over... I've already done what I can/voted for Newt, and have decided to pray for an open convention that will deliver us a more capable candidate. In the meantime -as floated by
George Will a couple weeks back- it's time to fight for the Senate/House races the GOP strategically
HAVE to win.
Giving my all for the presidential contest seems foolish if you're talking Romney or Santorum- it's like being an car saleman selling
Chevy Citations to anyone who will listen when he knows that they're junk.
What a relief it is knowing I won't have to defend Rick Santorum for the next 8 months... hard to fight for somebody you have no faith in. I would kill to have Perry back in the race, man was he overlooked- certainly by myself as well.
|
Team Obama licking their chops... the ads just write themselves |
Alas, this is today's political arena: attack ads/manipulative MSM + gullible voters bring you the guy that's done the least, is boring as watching grass grow, who basically just warmed a Senate seat for 12 years... while the accomplished, the brilliant, the driven, and the gifted are ran-off- great.
Have fun, Republicans- looks like you'll have to try and beat Obama without me... and I'm not the only one.

This was written by a stooge. I say that any one of the Republican challengers can beat the Marxist Bisexual Muslim Kenyan. Where was all the angst from this writer when the GOP nominated McCain n 2008?

Mega dittos! What’s worse is what happens if any of the GOP runners do beat Obama. What if Romney keeps socialized healthcare? What if Santorum keeps supporting unions and mandatory dues? What if Newt keeps crossing the aisle and playing with the Pelosis and Reids? Will consrevatives still support them? If they don’t that just gives fodder for the democrats to take everything in 2016.
The Republic is between a rock and a hard place. The only way out is to concentrate on electing conservatives to local, state and congressional offices. Then hold their feet to the fire to limit Obama.

Congressional Republicans will not be effective if Obama is re-elected.
Obama will continue to operate outside of Congress.
Sour grapes because Newt didn’t win is ridiculous. He is not a great conservative standard bearer and not worth falling on the sword for.
In truth, any one of these candidates can beat Obama.
Voters are rejecting Romney and that should make us happy.

Ever since television came into everyone’s living room for the first time the best looking presidential candidate has always won. The Won was decidedly better looking than McSane in the last election. The question is, is Santorum better looking than Romeny? I say yes (plus I would never vote for Mittens). The next question, is Santorum better looking than The Won? I say yes he is. The Won is kind of funny looking except if you stack him up to someone like McSane. Then he looks great!

We have to beat Obama. Obama will find a way to bypass congress no matter who is in charge. Don’t give up on this. He must be beaten.
To: Flavious_Maximus
You are dead bang on target. This is some DemocRAT apparatchik putting out disinformation.
WE will see a lot more of this before November.

If the Republicans keep control of the House and win the Senate, Congress will be led by John Boehner and Mitch McConnell. We know already Boehner isn’t conservative and isn’t a leader. We know McConnell is at best a compromising deal maker.
In 2013 Harry Reid as Minority Leader will use the filibuster to completely shut down the Senate frustrating any attempt by the Republicans to set the agenda. No doubt Pelosi will use every political and PR trick she can in the House. For Pelosi and Reid politics is mortal combat with no rules. For Boehner and McConnell politics is a friendly round of golf at the country club.
Sorry, I can’t see Republican majorities in the 2013 Congress meaning anything with Boehner and McConnell in charge. I remember the Hastert/Frist Congresses when the deficit exploded with rampant earmarking and corporate welfare. The Republican majorities under Hastert and Frist did nothing to roll back the socialist state.
Sorry, the Republican Party Congressional leadership has no stomach for a fight with leftists, Republican president or not. They are part of the problem, not the solution. There will be no rollback of Obamacare, or rollback of social spending, under a Republican or Democrat Congress.

So, you would rather “vote” for Obama when Romney wins the nomination? That’s patriotic...

Looks like that’s going to be our only hope. We have the most beatable liberal I’ve ever seen in office, and I believe the stupid republicans have managed to make their nomination contest between three of the only people that can’t beat him in a national election!
Just damn.....
