Its Obamacare, Stupid
MAR 19 JEFFREY H. ANDERSON Its not easy to lose 63 seats in a House election. Before 2010, the last time it had been done was when Joe DiMaggio was still patrolling center field for the New York Yankees. Its even harder to pull off such a feat when exit polling shows that Americans were inclined to blame the prior president (a member of the other party) for the poor economy. This raises a question that Democrats and the media have been avoiding for the past 16 months: Just how did the Democrats do it?
A new academic study says the answer can likely be reduced to one word: Obamacare. The study, which was conducted by scholars from Dartmouth and elsewhere, finds that supporters of health care reform paid a significant price. The authors looked at cap and trade, the economic stimulus, and Obamacare, and concluded that the latter had by far the most adverse effect on Democrats fortunesvoters were approximately 5 points less likely to vote for an incumbent who supported health reform than one who opposed it.
Indeed, if all Democrats in competitive districts [had] opposed health care reform, that likely would have swung about 25 seats from the Republican column into the Democratic column and would have given the Democrats a 62 percent chance of winning enough races to maintain majority control of the House.
thats not the only interesting finding. The authors ask, How is it that votes come to affect election outcomes? They conclude Democrats support for Obama-care led voters to perceive them as more liberal, more ideologically distant, and out of step. This was particularly true for independent voters. In other words, voters not only oppose Obamacare as policy but view it as a symbol of a commitment to big-government liberalism.

You mean the one that was based upon the venerable Massachusetts governors plan, MiniMitt Romney?
I agree! This is exactly why Romney MUST NOT be the nominee! I don’t understand why all the other candidates didn’t go after him on this from the beginning. No way Romney should be anywhere near the 2012 GOP nomination. It defies logic that he is.
Now that it has the attached name, it will forever be remembered for it's failed originator - the rookie Hussein.
Santorum was right when he said that if the GOP nominates Romney, we will lose ObamaCare as an issue.
Thanks for this fact: “ - - - the only candidate in the race who did NOT embrace the individual mandate will have the most credibility in challenging Obama. His name is Santorum.”
” - - - Santorum was right when he said that if the GOP nominates Romney, we will lose ObamaCare as an issue.”
And that is why Romney must drop out of this Primary for the good of the Country.
Obama”care” is THE issue.
And that is why Romney must drop out of this Primary for the good of the Country.
Obamacare is THE issue.

OMG, surely you jest. Romney??? Drop out of the Primary Race??? Hey, RINO-Rom has been running for the 2012 GOP Nomination for 4 years now. He has spent millions of dollars of his own money. He would cut his mother’s throat for a vote. And you think he’s gonna drop out??? PULL-EEEZE!!!!
No, I don’t think that Romney will drop out.
I think that Romney MUST drop out of this Primary for the good of America.
If Romney becomes the Nominee, then our only hope is to have Congress Impeach Obama before Election Day.
TEA, anyone?
