I had a cat that died of an aneurysm (at least that was the vet’s theory). I was in the kitchen making a sandwich when I heard her collar clink against her water bowl. I turned around and she was laying there, limp. It was like someone had flipped a switch.

What I don’t get is how a heart attack or aneurysm can kill so suddenly. It seems like there would be enough reserve oxygen in the blood to keep you conscious for at least a few tens of seconds. It seems strange that it can have such a sudden effect.

It’s the drop of blood pressure. The systems just collapse.
