Investors flee Carbonite after Limbaugh announcement
The Daily Caller ^ | 4/6/12 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 03/06/2012 11:46:54 PM PST by Impala64ssa

On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement on his company’s website declaring that Carbonite had decided to “withdraw” advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke because it will “ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse”:

Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.

However, it hasn’t done much to contribute to his company’s stock price. Since the market opened on Monday through its close today, Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) has plummeted nearly 12 percent, outpacing the drop of the NASDAQ index in that same time period by nine-and-a-half points. It was also one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ on Tuesday.

Pisses me off, they off a great service and we just renewed with a three year contract on all our devices.
I wrote them and said we will not renew again, wish I could figure out where to go now.
The whole boycott Limbaugh is just stupid. I mean really these advertisers have no problem with leftest shows that say and firmly believe what they say against conservatives.
This whole issue is not going to end well, we are in for one hell of a ride the next few years, it really is fix it or break it time.

I told Carbonite that I quit as of my expiration date
of June 2.
I am not so much of a paranoid type, but I wonder about all the data they have on me.
They have a copy of everything on my computer.

I have been poopooing all the wise guys that say they have their own backup, but that is worthless in event of a natural disaster or fire.

I am, however, now concerned that a Marxist company has a copy of everything from my computer.

No one would have ever heard of car bon ite if they had not advertised on Rush’s show. I hope they fall off the face of the earth.

Far, far fewer for sure. To voluntarily cease advertising on a show with such a large audience will turn out to be a big mistake.

You are totally right. Rush made them what there were. I bought my Sleep Number after hearing about them on his show. I am sure there are a long line of new and interesting products that are dying to have Rush promote them so that they can have the success that Carbonite used to have.

We have a fire proof safe where we store our backup drive. Better safe than sorry and we don't have to pay a monthly fee to a Marxist pos company.

Rush got them to where they are.

Nobody will call them to support, people only contact them to complain.
Someone there made a bad decision. Time will tell.

I just wrote Carbonite and cancelled my contract and was explicit why I was doing so.

May Carbonite rest in peace.

At on time “fire proof” safes protected paper documents from being destroyed. Paper can take pretty extreme heat before browning/burning. Are the newer safes good for electronic devices and plastic? Those are damaged at far lower temperatures. Another important factor is time. These types of safes are only good for limited time of exposure to fire. If the fire burns long enough the contents are done.

"a more civilized public discourse"

Why in the world would anyone, of any stripe, consider civilized discourse desirable when we are confronting an existential threat?

Orenthal, I'd prefer you didn't slice my neck any further and I'd appreciate a chance to explain why. Of course, I'll be glad to listen to your views and consider a compromise.

http://www.radio-info.com/news/station-owner-larry-fuss-says-im-canceling-my-carbonite-subscription

>>(Radio)Station owner Larry Fuss says “I’m canceling my Carbonite subscription”

>>From today’s TRI Newsletter: Delta Radio owner Larry Fuss sees Limbaugh Show advertisers bailing and says he’s telling former Limbaugh advertiser Carbonite that his own action “stems from your cancellation of Carbonite’s sponsorship of the Rush Limbaugh radio program…Rush has millions of fans, many of whom, like myself, are business owners and Carbonite users.” Fuss admits that Limbaugh “may have engaged in a poor choice of words, he was nevertheless right about the entitlement mentality in this country and those who promote it.” He says “By canceling your advertising on his show, you are empowering these very people.” Fuss says “I don’t do business with any of the other companies that have bailed, but I’ll make sure to avoid them in the future.”

I purchased Carbonite, Lifelock and a Sleep number all through Rush's endorsement because I trust Rush and have also used Pro Flowers tons of times not anymore. I think in the future I will do a search on who the principals of the company are before I put my money down. I do not want to support a company who supports Obama. I just found out that one of designres I like Michael Kors was at an Obama fundraiser last week this is unfortunate I just dont’ want to give money to anyone who is knowingly or unknowingly destroying our country.

Other than lack of money...The Main Reason I’ve never wanted a service like this is exactly what you state.

Can I REALLY trust someone else with MY stuff? Boring as it is, it’s MY stuff...
