I thought comedians and entertainers were exempt from law suits.

Yeah, Steny. Discovery for that case ought to be a real hoot and a holler.
And, of course, the truth is an absolute defense against libel.

Sarah Palin should sue too, she is not a public figure, she holds no political office, and Bill Maher and David Letterman both said disgusting, vile comments about her ad her daughter..so Hoyer, should the Palin family sue too?

Up until the point where she started appearing on tha lame street media, she may have had a case. But with her constant media appearances, she may have become a “public figure.

I’m sure Rush’s full time staff of some of the best lawyers in the nation would have a fun time crushing Ms. Fluke into paste.

he said Fluke is a "slut" and a "prostitute" She could easily win. She's a disgusting floozie, as described by the first term, but she's not a prostitute - she apparently doesn't charge her (claimed) many customers directly.

“She is not a public figure” = she made herself one when she testified in front of that so-called committee and lied. Birth control pills are used MAINLY for birth control not other ailments as she claimed. Ask any reputable doctor.
Discovery is a bitch, Steny. Probably more than she cares to have known about her. And besides, most people would probably agree that $3,000 in birth control in 36 months = slut.

She made herself a pubic figure by testifying before Congress.....
To: Free ThinkerNY
If she does, she better make sure she isn’t a slut. Rush can afford top legal representation. And we know good attorneys are not going to turn away the money and the limelight.
If she has anything at all out there that isn’t glowing, it would be proof that she really is a slut.

Umm ... The DC-area Left was just giddy with pride to be "sluts" last year. They said they were "taking back" the word and making it respectable.
Gee. Times change so quickly in Hypocriteville.

If she sues then Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and others should sue on the same day in the same court.

Although I don't like using words like that to describe anyone, if she were to sue it would probably lead to a legal discussion of what the word means, and how it is defined. There would likely be enough ambiguity to hamper a lawsuit.
I find it kind of interesting that lots of young women go to hip-hop concerts, when the most vile language is used frequently in hip-hop to describe women.
To: Free ThinkerNY
Problem with trying to sue for slander is that truth is an absolute defense.

I think Rush should go after Hoyer and spend a week trashing him on true issues. You know from all Hoyer’s years in congress he has plenty of ammunition.
