Anyone remember those TV Westerns that dominated the screens in both the USA and UK during the 50s and 60s? They were evicted wholesale after Fred Silverman of CBS instigated his rural purge in 1970.
Why did CBS and the other networks close them down? Who knows, because ratings were certainly not low. The Western on page or screen always had an appeal both inside and outside the USA.

BTW you could see those CBS western on ME TV or Antenna TV or Encore western channels
I watch some of them on Encore Westerns. My favorite - the Virginian. Percy Faith composed the theme.
CHECK this out... Amazing and just lovely...

It is not a coincidence that the most cowboy state in America is also the most conservative-- Wyoming, the place where I was born.
Many of these are available for streaming or shown on Cable channels such as the Western Channel. Gunsmoke and The Rifleman were my favorites then, and still are. Bonanza was great for a time, but they would often throw in a stupid story line, like “Hoss and the Leprechauns”.
Two I miss very much and maybe they don’t fill the bill as classic TV Westerns, are Wild Wild West, and Kung Fu. Wish I could find those shows.
Roy Rogers is on, I think every day on one of the channels I get on Dish Network. The best thing about it is at the close of every show, Roy and Dale sing “Happy Trails to You”.
Yes! Those were great!

My favorite was Blognanza:
We excerpt a blog, 'til we finally struck Blognanza.
With a stolen video and a copied storie-o, scamming hits for free.
We got hold of some story old, Blognanza.
With a blog and a joint, I'll pimp my point, how rich can a fellow be?
My favorite was theRifleman’s theme . . . awesome!
I remember the Rifleman, Rawhide, Gunsmoke and of course Bonanza.
What, No Big Valley?
Big Valley. Linda Evans was a cute one on that show.
Listen to this wonderful interview of Clint Walker by Mark Levin.

Remember these?
THE LONE RANGER CREED
“I believe that to have a friend,
a man must be one.
That all men are created equal
and that everyone has within himself
the power to make this a better world.
That God put the firewood there
but that every manmust gather and light it himself.
In being prepared physically, mentally, and morally
to fight when necessary for that which is right.
That a man should make the most
of what equipment he has.
That ‘This government, of the people, by the people
and for the people’shall live always.
That men should live by the rule of what is best
for the greatest number.
(This one Im not so sure about. Could be interpreted as socialism. I dont think the Lone Ranger meant that with his words)
That sooner or later...somewhere...somehow...
we must settle with the world and make payment for what we have taken.
That all things change but truth, and that truth alone, lives on forever.
In my Creator, my country, my fellow man.”
The Lone Ranger
My earliest memory is riding my spring rocking horse with the Rawhide theme on the TV.
Sorry put the wrong link to the Mark Levin interview, put a Eric Clapton video by mistake.
They sang the song to Bonanza once and only once.
