I would say the facts are the result of a tainted investigation.
Look - if real LEOs were to pull such a stunt they would be fired and possibly prosecuted.
If we are a nation of.laws then justice has to be impartial. A financial incentive to come.to.a certain result is not impartial.
No prosecutor or judge in the country would accept such behavior. The entire investigation would be tainted and thrown out.

You will not separate the facts from those involved with the facts.
By the way, let's let a real judge and jury decide when this reaches a real court, which it has not yet.
Until then, it is pointless specualtion on your part about what may or may not be true about the participants.
So, now, what do you think about the facts, on their own, because I do not share your assertion that they are in any way tainted.
