Here's a great way to visualize former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's inability to inspire Republican primary voters: Imagine the candidate delivering a major speech at a pro football stadium. Now picture that instead of 65,000 cheering supporters, his actual audience is about 1,200 people seated quietly on the field directly in front of him.
Unfortunately for Mr. Romney, no one needs to imagine that scenario. It's what actually happened today at Detroit's Ford Field. Instead of the major economic address promised by his campaign; the small audience was subjected to the same old policy ideas, quips and nervous laughter we've come to expect whenever Mr. Romney is under pressure.

I wonder how many people would have shown up if the candidate had been Sarah Palin?
I hear he owns one of every different kind of car, just so he doesn’t tick anybody off.
Romney is gone.
This is why Jeb Bush is entering, from Stage Left. I bet he’s in. Romney is imploding daily with his Biden/Gore gaffe and gag remarks. FOUR cars (two caddies). Sheesh.
Kind of a surprise that he couldn’t bus more people in. I guess there just aren’t enough Mormons in Detroit, and not even a free speech and a cash gratuity was enough to draw many others.
I guess the dogs got the word out.
Dogs will not be voting for Mitt.
Sort of reminiscent of McCain arriving in NH on a campaign stop in 2008 and only one person — a reporter — showing up to greet him.
Truth is, the audience was bigger than originally expected, leading to the need to move to a larger, available venue.
MI people believe in Romney and Floridians believe in Jebbie; what can be done?
Take a situation where the Detroit Economic Club (not Romney) quickly moved their meeting to a LARGER venue, occasionally used the same way by other groups of it's size (the floor of Ford Field), then choosing to play up the situation to diminish Romney. This very well could have been Newt or Santorum, but since it is someone disliked, the facts can be distorted or played up to suit a political purpose.
