As members of Georgias House of Representatives debate whether to prohibit abortions for women more than 20 weeks pregnant, House Democrats introduced their own reproductive rights plan: No more vasectomies that leave "thousands of children ... deprived of birth."
Rep. Yasmin Neal, a Democrat from the Atlanta suburb of Jonesboro, planned on Wednesday to introduce HB 1116, which would prevent men from vasectomies unless needed to avert serious injury or death.
The bill reads: "It is patently unfair that men avoid the rewards of unwanted fatherhood by presuming that their judgment over such matters is more valid than the judgment of the General Assembly. ... It is the purpose of the General Assembly to assert an invasive state interest in the reproductive habits of men in this state and substitute the will of the government over the will of adult men."
If we legislate womens bodies, its only fair that we legislate mens, said Neal, who said she wanted to write bill that would generate emotion and conversation the way anti-abortion bills do. There are too many problems in the state. Why are you under the skirts of women? Im sure there are other places to be."

The Democrats really want to go there? I would equate a vasectomy to sterilization sooner than I would equate it to an abortion.
I would love to see the Republicans in the house run ads that Georgia Democrats want to sterilize women.
Really stupid.
This is about the silliest thing I have read in a long time. This is not profound, meaninful, or intelligent. Preventing pregnancies via permanent contraception practices such as vasectomy or tubal ligation is not the same thing as killing a living baby, not even close!
You have to be kidding me.
Please say you’re kidding me.
This is for real? I had to look and make sure this wasn’t satire from the Onion.
How retarded.
Shouldn’t she be proposing that taxpayers fund vastectomy?
/sarc
It's obvious those brainless democrats are trying to conflate the two in order to make an idiotic point.
Of course, we can't discount the possibility that they actually are trying to prevent people from being responsible so that more pregnancies (and more lucrative abortions) will result.
Vasectomy IS sterilization, and as such is equivalent to HYSTERECTOMY, NOT abortion.
Jackasses ought to be strung up.
This is asinine to the Nth degree - this is a little-brat lash-out, but it’s possible it could be actually passed. It’s not just an (stupid) argument, it’s an actual law proposal. Total brats that need to be shot.
If just one post reflects the idea of government control issues....
As long as it specifies that all registered democrats will receive the vasectomies then I would be good with it. While they’re at it specify that all registered democrat women will have their tubes snipped as well. Democrats are proof that some people should not be allowed to reproduce.
She’s helping Planned parenthood make more money. If men have vas they can’t get anyone pregnant and that means less abortions.
Is there nothing so mind-numbingly stupid, or so morally reprehensible, that a Democrat won't advocate for it?
These people are truly NUTZ!!!
Rule: In politics, if you see your opponent committing suicide, get out of the way. But don’t help.
Children thinking they are fooling someone. In Georgia stuff like this is the only way they remind people they still exist.
Shocker.
[ Vasectomy IS sterilization, and as such is equivalent to HYSTERECTOMY, NOT abortion. ]
Wrong, Vasectomy is more like Tubal Ligation, than Hysterectomy.
Castration is more akin to Hysterectomy.
FYI.
Thats going exactly nowhere.
A vas is the equivalent of a fem having her tubes tied. Both an unacceptable means of birth control IMHO. So, regardless of the Dems dumb reasoning, I’d go with it. Perhaps he can come up with an Obama compromise...just one nut (besides him that is)
