The recent flap over the Obama Administrations edict that all employers must provide birth control, including abortifacients, as part of heath insurance benefits for employees has given us a teaching moment, says representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Fla.).
We have established the fundamental principle that employers may not force their views on employees by refusing to cover the costs of birth control measures, Wasserman-Schultz crowed. The days of employer oppression of employees are over. The government has stepped in to defend the working class.
The Congresswoman dismissed complaints that the Obama Administrations move wrongfully violates individuals rights to act in accord with their own consciences. We had an election in 2008, she pointed out. Obama won that election. He has a mandate from voters that overrides the supposed individual right to freedom of conscience. This is what democracy is all about.
In contrast, employers have no mandate to decide what they will or wont pay for if elected authorities say otherwise, she continued. Obligations to invisible deities or claims of purported inalienable rights cannot be used to set aside ones responsibility to obey the laws laid down by our President.
In related news, a quartet of Senate Democrats denounced a Republican initiative aimed at protecting the right of conscience to not be forced to participate in a government program that they believe to be morally wrong. We cant have people deciding for themselves whether they ought to be required to participate in funding someone elses birth control or abortion rights, declared California Senator Barbara Boxer. This would put anarchic individualism ahead of social welfare. It would set the country back 200 years.
Ironically, it was a little over 200 years ago that the First Amendment to the Constitution barred the government from interfering with an individuals right of conscience.

Got me again! At least I didn’t go right into a raging rant.
The funds raised in these FReepathons go to pay our current quarter expenses. But we're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little extra now, if we can, and the rest next quarter.

It’s a sign of the times that this turned into some kind of women’s rights issue, and a clever ploy by the media which is now so incredibly propagandist on behalf of “the one”.
The Church was follwing it edict, as it has since the beginning. They instigated nothing, changed nothing and complained about nothing. Then, the govenment came along and kicked in thier front door. If there is controversy, it should be that the government picked a fight with the church, not the other way around.
As a former Catholic myself, I’m not surprised. The church has been cozying up to the democrats for too long. Overlooking the abortion platform, and standing silently as the democrats used them as props for election and re-election. I guess they thought they would be eaten last.
As long as Pelosi, Kerry, the Kennedy’s and so many others are allowed to claim Catholism without so much as a peep from the Pope or the rest of the church’s hierchy, I will not claim Catholisism. The church of my childhood left me for the politics of the present. I hope they enjoy the newest members of thier dwindling flock, while I’ll pray that Jesus can forgive the Pope and the rest of the church for what it has become.

I get the very strong impression that within my lifetime many of these issues will no longer be able to be settled by open and free elections.

It is hard to distinguish fact from satire these days. I was fuming while I read this because is what that hag would actually say.
Once I saw that it was fake, I wasn’t really that relieved, because I am certain it is what the moonbats really believe.
