Mexico Official: Public Security 'Overrun'
In Sight ^ | 10 February 2012 | Geoffrey Ramsey

Mexico’s defense secretary has acknowledged that some areas of the country are outside government control, fueling the debate over the specter of state failure in the country.

At a military ceremony yesterday, Mexican Defense Minister Guillermo Galvan Galvan addressed the national security situation in the country, pessimistically describing it in stark terms. “Clearly, in some sectors of the country the public security situation is completely overrun,” said Galvan, adding that “it should be recognized that national security is seriously threatened.” He went on to say that organized crime in the country has managed to penetrate not only society, but also the country’s state institutions.

The speech comes after significant amount of debate by security analysts over whether or not Mexico is, or at least at risk of, becoming a failed state.

In 2008, the United States Joint Forces Command likened Mexico to Pakistan in a report on failed and weak states, describing them both as “two large and important states [which] bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse” (Department of Defense, 2008).

Last May, a retired general claimed that drug gangs control around 40 percent of Mexico, and in August the founder of Mexico’s leading civilian security center put the figure at around 50 percent.

Thanks to the stupid, lazy and cowardly American illegal drug users who are too stupid, lazy and chicken to change their reality, so they take illegal drugs to try and ignore that reality for a few minutes, thereby funding some of the most barbaric criminals this world has ever known. Want an easy fix for the illegal drug problem? Here it is - Illegal drug users.....quit being lazy, stupid and chicken.

Or heres an idea since there will always be stupid, lazy, and chicken people we could legalize and regulate soft drugs. We could create jobs here and mexico which will help american citizens and send some of the illegals home without us having to pay for the bus tickets.

I like my idea better.

Reading the article, it looks like our drug policies have resulted in criminal enterprises being financed well enough that they're well on the way to completely taking over that country. And your "easy" fix? Drug users just need to stop being lazy, stupid, and chicken.

Count me among the skeptical.

Yeah, it is. And the MSM will bury its head in the sand because this gets in the way of the “open borders are good” narrative.
