The first two episodes of the new series were broadcast Tuesday night, and a total of seven prepper individuals/groups were assessed, including (in order of appearance):
Paul and Gloria Range, the Retiree Preppers, outside of Floresville, Texas Were preparing for a polar shift that will cause a sudden climate change and change life as we know it forever.
Christopher Nyerges, the Street Survivor, Los Angeles, California Im prepping for a killer earthquake that could completely flatten the city of L.A.
Megan Hurwitt, the Young Urban Prepper, Houston, Texas Im prepping to survive a catastrophic oil crisis.
David Sarti, the Hillbilly Prepper, outside of Nashville, Tennessee Im prepping to survive an EMP detonation that will wipe out our nations transportation system.
Kellene (and Scott) Bishop, the Gourmet Prepper, Orem, Utah Im prepping for a collapse of our financial system that will mean the end of the world as we know it.
Kathy (and Bruce) Harrison, the Doris Day of Doom, somewhere in New England Im preparing for a black swan event like a catastrophic New Madrid earthquake.
Dennis Evers, the Godfather Prepper, rural Colorado Im prepping to protect my family against global chaos caused by hyperinflation.
Watching these first two episodes of the new television series, I thought back to something I wrote last year regarding the 2011 pilot:

I especially very much his take of the 'Liberal' New England preppers. They have know idea what would come at them.
The best way to describe it is my often posted and favorite quote on what happens to people during SHTF.
"Let me tell you something about humans, nephew: They're a wonderful, friendly people - as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working."
"But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those friendly, intelligent, wonderful people...will become as nasty and as violent as the most blood-thirsty klingon." Quark from: The Siege of AR-558 (#7.8)" (1998)
Preppers’ PING!
“I especially very much his take of the ‘Liberal’ New England preppers. They have know idea what would come at them.”
I don’t think anyone really does. Most important thing is to have family, community and faith. If you think you can survive on your own wits, you will be deeply disappointed.
“I was surprised that one prepper went so far as to reveal that the cost of her and her husbands preps amounted to six-figures. Shhhh!”
I’m not. To some people, prepping is just an expensive hobby like LARPing. They are into the whole experience of roughing it out.
These people can prepare all they want, but something will get them that they overlooked. Good to do some prep, but not to overdo it.
It depends on who you are.
The Range family was hard core but could have cleaned up their junk yard to make it look presentable. Reminded me of a David Alan Foe song.
You got it right. Fly over country.
My family has lived on/owned/farmed land here since 1889. (I left for 25 years, been back 15).
Not really a prepper, but we could easily be totally self sufficient. At this point it really does not make that much sense to do so. We have an excellent grocery store, locally owned and very competitive. (I like food variety)
We normally have cattle, but sold them all during the 100 year drought last year. We will slowly begin rebuying soon.
We have not had chickens on the farm since I was a child. Might just change that this year. Talked about it, but my wife wants to go see the grandson soon. They would complicate things for that.
I greatly expanded our orchard last year (during the horrible drought). Planted strawberries, blackberries, blueberries (most failed) and had a rather large garden.
We ate pretty well.
We have been more focused on taking care of sick elderly family. That has been the priority.
My brother and I are taking over more responsibility with the farm, due to my father & uncle both having health issues.
We must always remember, we do not truly plan our future (as some of us think), but someone else is ultimately in control. God Bless my family. God Bless the United States of America. God Bless Texas.
Megan said she was offered $1,000 by the producers to actually shoot the cat.
To her credit, she refused.
A lot of the little towns around here are adjusting their ordinances to allow a few chickens or rabbits within the city limits.
Well it looks like ONE of the guys on this show just had his guns taken away and told he was “suicidal”
This is why you never ever go on TV bragging about being a prepper.

We have never had any ordinances against them in the 100 years the town has existed. Have neighbors who have chickens. They never bothered me.
We even have a few people on the outskirts of town (in the city limits) with a few horses and calves.
So if the shtf the who do you think stands a better chance of surviving it you or them?
Read Selco’s blog and you will get a good idea.
Ours is a tad over 600 population.
When I grew up it was about 1200 population.
The entire county has about 6,000 people living in it.
Normally we have a lot more cattle than people in the county.
Several local families moved in about the time my ancestors did. 6 or more are still here.
I grew up about 14 miles from the Perry family, and about 10 miles from his wife’s family. Know both, but have never met Rick.
We do live in the Big Nothing as the guys in Dallas call it.
This guy was kind of a nutcase, but a lot of his youtube videos had some pretty good info for preppers.
His diet would have to be more varied. The same goes for a all protein diet. The build up of ammonia and urea from eating too much protein would eventually overwhelm the liver and kidneys.

I wonder if Flannigan, Brannigan and Iskovich monitor FR? I have heard rumors that the NSA monitors this forum. Then again, I have second hand knowledge that Janet from another planet Napalotano monitors this site.
Who knows for sure?
There is no such thing as "prepping." You either prepare for x, y or z, or you don't. You either live or you don't. True or false?
Most Code Slingers will tell you, we live in a binary universe...
