Heres a mind-boggling explanation of how the state government, setting out to manipulate private manufacturers into making electric cars, gets so tangled up in its special treatment for special constituents that its bureaucratic web ends up working against itself.
The California Air Resources Board, second only to the federal EPA in government heavy-handedness, adopted rules ostensibly to cut down on smog and, of course, global warming. Tucked into the folds of this bureaucratic diktat is a provision that some call a loophole.

We are becoming more like the Soviet Union of old, where everyone is forced to muddle along in mediocrity, except for the Nomenklatura, with their dachas and Zil limousines.
So, which pays you better? The hit counter at the OC Register, or the one at the OC Register Blog Site?
Just a personal observation -
The problem is not good, loyal, contributing FReepers posting an opinion piece once in a while. (I’ve been known to do that myself, when The Muse speaks to me.)
It’s spamming the Forum with drivel that’s cranked out just as hit fodder by posters whose history shows nothing but “1 of X” never commenting, just using FR like their own personal billboard.
I (and I suspect a lot of other FReepers) have a problem seeing the Forum we pay for ~~to keep it free from advertising~~ used that way.
Thank you. My thoughts exactly.
IMHO, there is enough clutter on FR without making it worse with a bunch of hit seeking blog pimpers.
FReepers say, “Quit yer bitching, just don’t read blogger and chat threads.” That attitude misses the point. The pimpers are still taking storage space and, most importantly, bandwidth, the one thing FR needs above all else.
