From the somewhat guilt filled comforts of Greece, I have been thinking about what I learned from the recent Cairo SHTF experience. I am not putting myself forth as an expert of any sort and, frankly, many or even most items on the list below might be flat out wrong
.who the hell knows. We were in Cairo from Jan 25th until late Feb 3rd when the neighborhood gunfire became full-auto and regularly occurring. At that point, we decided that Friday prayers (the next day) might not yield a pleasant experience. We had no way of knowing that we had already seen the worst.

Prepper’s Ping!
As with Selco post on his experiences during SHTF here is anothers.
Shouldn’t Number ONE be “GET THE HELL OUT OF EGYPT BEFORE TSHTF!”
Interesting thoughts on the psychology of survival and its effect on our relationships. I hadn’t thought about that much. Thanks for the post.
I do wonder if the guy doesn’t like living on the edge, because he is after all living in Greece now.

Good read. Thanks. Gonna be nicer to the neighbors. We don’t get along too well.
I like to think it’s my neighbors that don’t get along with me! ;-)
I know what he feels like, I live in California.
I live in Eastern California (New Mexico). ;-)
You have a Governor, we have a Recycled Moonbeam.
The only saving grace is that we live in South Orange County. Most people here are sane.
True, but the State Legislatures are almost interchangeable!
What? You mean the “S” in SHTF doesn’t stand for Souffle?
Color me embarrassed.
I am trying to arm people with pertinent useful information that may keep them and their families ALIVE and safe. The vernacular is common among and is used regular by those most knowledgeable about the subject of survival. I don’t condone the language, but I do want to pass on the knowledge.
I have to ask since you know that that term regularly comes up in these threads why would you insist on exposing yourself to it if you find it so distasteful?
PING
Really? I thought our nutty Politicians couldn’t be beat, although they should be.
The ‘Dim-o-rats’ in our legislature insist on allowing illegals, of every stripe, potential terrorist, drug runners and other assorted no-goods, low lifes and criminals the ability to get themselves a New Mexico Drivers Licenses!
So you’re trying to catch up with us huh?
WE’RE NUMBER ONE!
WE’RE NUMBER ONE!
WE’RE NUMBER ONE!
WE’RE NUM...
Hey, wait a minute. LOL
I go way back in survivalism, way back and was very glad to see the word prepper start getting used, because it was more mainstream and makes it easier to email articles to my friends and family who used to have a bad image of being a survivalist.
I can’t send these people articles on the “shit” movement, I don’t even want to wade through a lot of reading that has me mentally forming the words that you use.
Do we copy off this stuff and let our kids read it?
Why foul up something for no reason, why make the effort to get dirty, is this hip now?
There is no reason to go adolescent like, and left wing like in the survivalist movement.
