Which should we fear more, a third party or an Only party?
Primordial Slack ^ | 1/29/2012 | Joan of Argghh!

I’m pretty sure we’re watching the progressive end-game unfold after its 100-year incremental march. Like Mexico’s “institutional revolution” we have instituted and indoctrinated our own offspring to lead us exactly to this point: One Party Government.

It may turn out differently, but I’ve seen the tipping point with Mitt Romney’s vicious and specious attacks on Newt being repeated by all the media/government players. No, they’re not just the usual suspects of the MSM any more. Now our “new media” allies have fought their way to some imagined significance and so they kowtow to the powerful. We are all Capt. Schettino now, I guess, and it’s every man for himself. Don’t judge me, man! It’s market driven media. Capitalism!

It’s different than when Ross Perot ran for president and handed the brass ring to Clinton on a silver platter. We all bemoaned the Third Party split that gave the election to a man without a clear majority. But I think now we have a de facto Only Party. It is comprised of those who will not allow money out of their circle of influence. The wet dream of the Progressives has been to set the have-nots against the haves under the guise of fairness. The dirty secret behind that dream is that the Proggies are panting for the opportunity to be the haves. And for you to be the have-not.

The RNC has told all of us we cannot have Newt (or Cain. Or Palin. Or West.) We have told the RNC they cannot have Mitt. The impasse has drawn a stark contrast that even a blind man can discern. It’s not about being Republican. It’s not about hanging together or separately. Really, when you’re already screwed what’s a few feet of rope and a short drop? That’s the mood out there, folks.

Commenter raven at Legal Insurrection eloquently speaks for me at this juncture:

This is no longer about quarrels between candidates or wounds being inflicted or “healing over time,” it’s about existential differences of political and national identity, and about generations of GOP betrayals which have brought us to this point and which will no longer be denied, ignored, forgotten or forgiven. “Critical mass” has arrived.

Romney is just a representation (if not him, someone else like him) — of power and a presumption to power whose purpose is only in the gaining and keeping of power. This “power” has allowed our collective ship to drift outside the currents of the Constitution, and it clutches the rudder with a death grip.

I don’t know what will happen in Florida, but what Romney has done in the past few months (truly the only “inevitable” thing about Romney was that he would do this) has set in motion something historic. Nothing will be the same. The GOP chose Romney and he’s their destiny.

There’s a simmering idea that we’re all quite happy to leave the GOP with their choice and commit our own last act as a free people by voting our conscience. To Hell with the scare-mongerers who used our worst fears against us, to bring us to heel at the jackboot of the elites.

With Hussein on one side and Hussein-lite on the other, we only have one party.

We’ve got two parties. One is socialist heavy. The other is socialist light.

We need a Conservative Party.

I lived in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Maryland (DPRM) for many years, it is essentially a one party state. The left wing politics gets ugly. Very ugly.

I keep posting this message: Both parties are driving us toward socialism it’s just that one party is driving a little faster than the other. If obama is reelected the fault lands squarely at the feet of the GOP for not supporting a true conservative. I will not vote for a RINO and if obama is reelected because of a third party then I’m ready to rip off the band-aid and have this revolution. I can fight for my children’s freedoms. If I help elect a RINO then my children will have to fight for their own freedoms. I’d rather do that for them.

Yes, yes. I get that. But where did our running scared from the “horrors” of a Third Party and voting for McCain get us?

THAT’s what I’m looking to see. I don’t think we’re alone in that sentiment.

>"attacks on Newt being repeated by all the media/government "

This is PROOF of one party rule.

Both sides working for one side, makes things one sided, doesn't it?

TIME FOR TEA

Go Newt!!!

Congratulations on your escape from the democratic asylum on the Chesapeake Bay. I too resided in Maryland for 21 years before returning to my native soil of Georgia. Loved the 4 seasons and the good people there...but the politics of state government is rotten to the core.

We've basically been under one party rule since the 1989 swearing ins with no real difference between the two parties. The GOP had promise in early 1995 and became as one with the Dems within a few months. I welcome a Third Party and the ending of the current party choke hold the current Gemopublicancratic Socialist Party has created.

Very good article! Not sure that there is a way out for anyone under 30 or so. Politics has indeed become a game between like minded individuals and parties. It makes little difference who you vote for. Your crook or mine...

Is this the end of the Republican form of government? Seems so unless there is something of a revolution among the young. You would think that they would be the initial group to revolt since they are going to be responsible for all the debt incurred from the last generation or two.

Depends on the third party. Problem is, most of the current alternatives make you feel like you were seated next to someone on a transcontinental flight who told you they sell Amway products.

Let's see, we have the Demipublican party, and the Republicrat party, so we must fear that third party, the TEA party, they might split the vote.

This is why I would prefer a monarchy, or the chaos of multiple political parties that come, grow, die and and go, as they have in other countries. The British model of two political parties that we’ve got here is so antiquated, and once the two parties get established they just divide the spoils and defend their one and a half party territory as they are now doing with Mittens and the threat to their rule by Newt.

I fundamentally agree with your premise... I share this perspective... but you should be aware that voicing it this clearly might earn you a zot. The Powers that Be here at FR don't care for lines of reasoning that might lead you to a third-party vote, or a protest vote.

Take it from a Ron Paul fan.

How the hell did we get McCain? Our dear Karl "Turd Blossum" Rove and our friends in the eneMedia crammed him down our throat. As for the Republican Party...it's time to dust off and nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
