And all those lifers in the Congress are very afraid of Newt because he may have some old scores to settle. Last night on Greta he mentioned that Tom DeLay attempted a coup against Newt while he was speaker, which means DeLay wasn’t alone.

The Left has been preparing for Romney to be Ubama's opponent for years.

They created OWS to run against him.

If he is the nominee, OWS will burn the country to the ground next summer, and Ubama will blame Romney.

If Romney is not the nominee, they are SCREWED, because they put all their eggs in the Romney basket.

That, alone, is enough reason to support Newt.

“He has never been an establishment guy ....that is the primary reason he is hated. .... Erratic...yes...immoral.....yes....but establishment? don’t think so.”

He tried to be the establishment guy. What do you think the Scozzafava thing was all about? All those midterm elections where he tried to align himself with Rove and the establishment.

Conservatives hitching carts to the Newt horse will get exactly what they see.

That was his latter years..... post speakership...... his wilderness years if you will....he appears to have returned to his Reaganesque roots....hope it sticks.

“hope it sticks.”

Amen to that. If he gets the nomination, I hope he learns that it’s best to pretend to be conservative - consistently, even if your history shows that you are not.

But conservatives shouldn’t have to “hope” for a conservative in Newt. That’s why I am not a Newt supporter, and why I believe that if we are going to maximize the gains for conservatives, we have to go to a brokered convention in conjunction with a grass-roots conservative uprising.

That way, even if Romney or Newt squeaks by and still gets the nomination, they’ll know they have to at least pretend to be conservative perhaps more consistently than they otherwise would.

“I understand the the sentiment, but the article is about the rank and file republicans, not American voters in general.”

Well, I for one...am not anyones rank and file anything. I am an American, rank and file is just another word for peasant class...the problem is the royalty in both parties believe they have the right (and duty) to rule over us...that they know better than us what we need...I refuse to accept their rule...I am repulsed by their controlling and perversion of American philosophy.

“Well, I for one...am not anyones rank and file anything.”

Well, I understand the independent who rejects participating in political activity. Used to be one myself... until I realized the law regulates the American political system to the point the individual must band together with other like-minded individuals to have any effect at all, and work within the system as it exists.

And the rank and file republicans do not consider themselves the peasant class. Maybe they just consider themselves citizen participants (meaning voting party members) who made some wrong choices when they voted for their elected county, district, and national delegates and officers, and are abiding (for now) by the results of those elections, until the next convention. What you call “royalty” isn’t, they can easily be voted out of office if conservatives would just participate in the party convention system.

Your point about banding together with like minded individuals is exactly what the Tea Party movement is all about! We must band together to fight against all those who believe as even the leadership of the Republican party do...they really do not respect the individual any longer ngat...we must get rid of those type of people and restore freedom and indeed...restore America...we are a socialist nation whereby the government to a larger and larger degree determine our opportunity and even our longevity.

Just so you know, I grew up (literally) Republican...I campaigned passing out Republican candidate literature since I have been about 8 years old! Stuffed envelopes for mailings, etc. I have held public office as a Republican and still believe in the tenets of true Republicanism...they are American. But, I know that the leadership is not truly Republican (I am not speaking of Boehner necessarily, I mean the so called elite class who run the party. We need to literally overthrow them as well as the democrat party and it’s corrupt system of group representation and rights.
