Recruiting ignorant voters and a dependent class, to ensure a loyal base, far into the future.

While we are at it let’s drop the age for consensual sex to 12 and cut the pedo problem in half.(sarcasm). Does Minnesota have some problem that its citizens send the likes of Eleson, Franken and Klobouchar to Congress?

If you want rational voters, set the minimum age at 25. If you want everyone who's affected by government to vote, let everyone -
everyone, including infants - have the franchise, with the minors' votes being cast by their parents.
These two suggestions aren't mutually exclusive.

My position has been the same for 50 years:
(1) IMO, eighteen is too young to vote; but...
(2) if you're old enough to die for your country, you're old enough to vote - or do anything else, for that matter; so...
(3) don't tax minors ("no taxation without representation"), and
(4) Eighteen is too young for the draft, and
(5) Soldiers get to vote, whatever the age.
Number 4 is not a particularly practical position in time of war, I suppose, but it's one consistent with my best judgement.

Would the Representitive also agree that 16 year old should be prosecuted in adult when they commit a crime and not be given the benefit of juvenile court?
To: Nevermore
Should not have stated that narrowly:
Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Service men/women of any kind was meant/implied.

The guy’s just jerkin’ our chains! However, he’s an America-hater. So, if there were far more like him in Congress, a proposal like that and anything else destructive of our nation would become law.

And let's let five year-olds decide what candy I should give out at Halloween.

I guess Ellison the Muslim feels as if...If it is OK to rape, marry, and behead a 16 yr old, why not let them vote too! GOD I am disgusted with these idiot politicians!
To: massmike
If we let the parents cast a vote for each child born, the dems would probably want to outlaw abortion.
To: cuban leaf
ditto - it’s a crime our 18 year olds have to register for the draft, but can’t be trusted to drink.
