After over five years of running for the GOP presidential nomination, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney shouldn't have anything left to hide, but he apparently does. Mr. Romney is refusing to release his tax returns despite the fact that his vast wealth is already well known and he has admitted that his significant annual income is taxed at around the 15% level. So why not just release the returns?
When challenged on the issue during the most recent GOP debate, Governor Romney stumbled through his response eventually saying he would "probably" release the documents around April. But 24 hours later told reporters "People will want to see the most recent year" implying that whatever he might release would be limited. Again, the question is why?
Tax experts have suggested that the reason could be an attempt to hide Mr. Romney's use of offshore strategies to avoid taxes. According to Daniel Berman, a former U.S. Treasury deputy international tax counsel and now director of tax at Boston University's graduate tax program, "Certain interests in foreign investment structures would have to be reported on attachments to his return."

It’s not accurate to say he is hiding his tax returns because I heard him say he plans to release them in April. He also claimed this is the traditional time to do so.
I suggest simply that the amount of money he donates to the Mormon Church will shock people.....
Correct answer is NUNYA...Rush says he should say he will release these when 0 releases college transcripts, I add, Selective Service records, Social Security records, original BC, and passport records......
It shouldn’t be shocking since the Mormons tithe (tenth) 10 percent, as do other religions.
I don’t hear the MSM saying anything about Kerry’s lack of donations on his billions.
Service records, Social Security records, original BC, and passport records......”
Maybe he was born in Kenya?
I am unanimous on that! And just for laughs, howz' 'bout O let us know about his homosexual boyfriends!
Why are you hiding the rest of your blog post?
Maybe you should release the records of how much money you get for directing traffic away from Free Republic.
NO, he said he would “probably” release them. He will not release them.
He is filthy slime.
Well, I heard him say he will release ONLY the NEWEST INFO, the latest year, 2011, which they are massaging and preparing for public consumption as we speak. He will not release 2010 and older, I predict.
The latest one can file taxes is in April, but that doesn’t mean RINO Romney has to wait until then to release them.
Bad behavior on Obama’s part in not releasing certain records does not excuse RINO Romney. These Tu Quo/Tu Quo Que arguments are getting old.
“Its not accurate to say he is hiding his tax returns because I heard him say he plans to release them in April. He also claimed this is the traditional time to do so.”
He will release his 2011 return. What is he hiding in his 2010 return that he does not want us to show. He answered the question like a politician. It is normal to release the “current year” in April when it is done.
Romney, you are only 9 months late for releasing your 2010 return in April 2011. Romney’s speaking in double-talk... He is saying something true but not answering the question asked.
In my professional training to identify liars during interrogations, this is one of the number one characteristics.
I believe Romney gives the LDS 10% of his gross income.
Just like all the rest of America will have to do if he gets nominated.
Add up all the deductions, the Romneycare AKA Obamacare PLUS the LDS tith, its amazing how little will be left in Joe Americas weekly paycheck.
Agreed..........
I prefer Gingrich as being the most conservative.
But I think it is a Dim trick to talk about capital gains tax as saving money is an important part of the American dream. True, Romney has inherited wealth. But if a young person of any means begins saving a good part of their income at 20, they will have money invested which will probably be providing capital gains by age 40 or 50. Well, unless the socialists totally destroy the monetary system.
To criticize a person for being in such a position is an attack on capitalism and the chance for any working, conservative living, saving American to advance in the world.
He might be a liar, a fake, a poser, a RINO, a Lib lover, a this and that....but, but, but,....
Well I guess he could be a filthy slimeball too!! HA!!
Maybe there is not much to hide in them, but by not releasing them, it focuses people away from any other issue. Then he’ll release them and all the critics will look silly...
Maybe he is planning on releasing a Certificate of Taxation.
I wasn’t knocking the tithing that Mormons do.....everyone should do more of it. I just think that the MSM will lambast it as they do everything they do not like or understand.
