And 25% of Republicans DO NOT SUPPORT ROMNEY! A few jerry rigged polls mean NOTHING NADA ZILCH! McCain was FORCED upon us. He wasn't popular among the majority of Rs. And vanity above was written by Black Elk, I posted it.
How do you know 25% of Republicans do not support Romney? I guess we’ll know for sure once we have a closed primary. I believe S. Carolina is open. However, polls have been proven time and time again to be reasonably accurate—not necessarily individual ones, but taken as an aggregate they are.
As for McCain, I don’t know how you can reasonably claim McCain was forced upon us. If he wasn’t popular with the majority of Rs, how did he acquire enough delegates to win the nomination? Are you claiming McCain would have lost if all of the primaries were closed? As I recall, only Romney and Huckabee offered any serious competition to McCain.
My point isn’t to be argumentative. It’s just that there are rank and file Republicans who support moderate candidates. A lot of people foolishly vote based on electability. I hate the electability argument. No one really knows the future. Political winds change...rapidly. Plus, moderate Republicans don’t have a very good track record of actually winning the presidency, and centrists seem to make electability the prime criteria for their votes. Electability is important, but it’s definitely not more important than ideology, right?
