I am a big fan of Michele Bachmann, and I supported her candidacy for President of the United States. When she dropped out, I was forced to survey the field. I immediately ruled out Mitt Romney and Ron Paul neither of which are conservatives. That left me with three people: Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum. But who would I vote for when the primary came to my state?
I knew of Newt Gingrichs record in the U.S. House of Representatives and Rick Perrys record in Texas, but all I knew about Rick Santorum was that he was a solid social conservative. But where did that leave him on fiscal affairs? So that meant doing research listening to hours and hours of You Tube clips from the candidate and reading everything I could get on his policy positions and voting record. What it didnt mean was surfing the internet for other peoples opinion on the candidates. I could get all of that I wanted in the mainstream media and none of those were good opinions.

Maybe not enough time, but more than enough Obama has.
I forgave Santorum for Arlen, and researched his current platform. Hell, I once FReeped Santorum on E. 42nd St.
Once Michele Bachmann dropped out, I started listening to what he was saying, and everything clicked in my mind. I saw that he’s the superior candidate because he’s running on conservative PRINCIPLES.
What makes me very concerned are his comments about the beginning of life being at the “successful implantation” in the womb, and also his pathway to citizenship.
He's certainly better than Mitt, but not as conservative as Santorum. IMO, our success resides in the moral change of our country, and we must go all out with a candidate who is campaigning on this message. That man is Santorum.
If we get this wrong, the bill for the sin of abortion will come due. How can people expect to be blessed indefinitely with a good economy and freedom, as babies are being sucked out of their mothers’ wombs? The underlying orientation of such voters is “if we figure this out just right, we can escape the trajectory towards socialism without God's help,” whether they're aware of it or not. Well, “good luck” with that.
Ping!
Ping!
You definitely need to read this then ping!
I like Rick...a lot and he may have a big future....were he where Newt is as Mitt’s biggest threat I would support him
But I support Newt in this cycle for many reasons others have enumerated enough.
Their conservative bonafides are a toss up with Newt having a slight edge ACU wise
I do hope Rick is not hanging on to help Mitt win so Mitt will take him as VP hoping he will carry PA for him’
that will ensure Mitt gets the nomination
take Perry and Rick out and Mitt takes it even with Dummy also in the race
this is where we are at...if Perry and Santorum really want to stop a RINO then retire from the field
I think South Carolina will determine a lot on where the race will go from there for many candidates.
in that order
he will likely roll into Florida after winner take all SC
and that will be it...
it sucks
any of the 3 sorta conservatives...are running against Mitt, Paul, and each other
exactly like the GOP establishment, Romney News Channel, 95% of talk radio except Mark Levin, NRO, WSJ, all beltway GOP want it
only folks so far to really go to bat against Romney are Levin, Todd Palin..bless his heart..Sarah...very tepidly and Sheldon Adelson’s cash without which we would already be dead meat
and Free Republic...JR saw early on as did I (hat tip to each other) that after Sarah flared off, Michelle tripped up, Perry stumbled, Cain imploded
that here we were...and that Newt can fight and will fight like hell..flawed or not and that he is passably socially conservative as we can get
and JR gets big attaboys from me for that...I am very proud the forum took that tack...it may fail...but it was the right course
but make no mistake...I think I can say with authority we do like Santorum too but we have got to fish now...we cut bait much longer and it's over
I disagree with that somewhat. These primaries are loaded heavily on the back end with lots of electoral votes. I cannot predict what will happen anymore than anyone else. But Florida is a closed primary - the first.
I think that is much more a determiner than anything else. The top three should head into Florida, battle it out, and the one on bottom should consider thinking about their future. After Flordia, the electoral count will tell the tale.
As always, you say it like it is and I could not agree with you more.
I remain hopeful and prayerful that Newt might still pull this off. But for me, if at some point if Newt steps out of this race, I am done.
BRILLIANT!
Rick is my choice. Rick S that is.
You could say that about any of them
We almost got Harriet Miers on the SCOTUS though.
And I love your name! LOL!
Game changer in SC tonight?
Newt rocked!
He’s my choice too.
He's the choice of a new generation of conservatives. :-)
I've watched so many videos in which Santorum has explained his economic plans that I've seen how he actually is a fiscal conservative. Santorum’s message best comes forth unfiltered. I had lots of questions, and had to do my research. His ideas are interesting and worth delving into.
There's good reason why Mark Levin would vote for him.
