I know many in the Republican Establishment media want to coronate Romney as the GOP nominee and get to the general election but there is no reason why we have to let them do it. Yes, he won in Iowa and New Hampshire and no GOP candidate has won the nomination without first winning in either Iowa or New Hampshire but, besides tradition, there is really no reason that needs to be true:
Besides sticking it to the people who brought us George H.W. Bush, a great reason to stop Romney is that he would be a complete disaster both as the nominee and as President, if he is actually able to win. Please let me know when any of these country club establishment types has been good for the promotion of conservative ideals? How about never? There have been two Republicans who have done an effective job of promoting actual conservative ideals of small government and more freedom in the last 50 years and those are Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich. They both challenged the established order and won on their own terms despite being born to meager means. Nixon, Ford, Bush I, Dole, Bush II and McCain, they have all been disasters who have hurt the cause. What is the point of voting Republican when you get someone who acts like a Democrat. And that is exactly what we would be getting with Romney. You really think that independents are going to rush to his emotionally cut-off, vacuous, believe-in-nothing self, who is probably going to raise their taxes? Why would they? It's clear that they haven't been in either Iowa or New Hampshire. When you adjust for the Paul surge (given that he is a fringe candidate with borderline connections with the GOP) turnout actually went down in both Iowa and New Hampshire! Does that sound like people are excited? And just wait until every single Bain deal is picked apart with interviews with people whose lives were ruined by Romney. It's only the tip of the iceberg so far. Also, when people are down, they want someone to empathize with them. Romney has all the empathy of a wet sponge (kind of like George H.W. Bush). Romney is going to have a horrible time in the general election, he'd better hope Obama self-destructs (a good chance but not exactly guaranteed).
Even if Romney wins, it will be a disaster for anyone who believes in liberty. This guy with the timid 59 point plan brought to you by Bain Consulting is not the answer to our problems. He is going to tweak Obamacare, tweak the tax code (cut some taxes, raise some others), tweak our foreign policy, offering no real changes to the status quo. Does Romney strike you as someone who will suspend the environmental regulations that are keeping the United States from rightfully developing its energy resources? Nope. He is going to come in, and just like Obama, think about what he has to do to get re-elected. He will pander to Democrats to appear bipartisan and completely betray real Republicans. And Israel? Forget it. We will be stuck in the same place as before. All Romney has promised to do is to not criticize them publicly, that doesn't mean he actually agrees with them and will stop putting pressure on the Jewish state to negotiate with terrorists. After 4 years of a Romney Presidency, government will be bigger, our taxes will probably be higher and Congress will probably be in Democratic hands as the Tea Party support that helped propel us to victory in 2010, withers away after being betrayed in 2012.
Anyway, I know this is a long rant but I really feel strongly about this. We have to stop Romney, he is the antithesis of a Reagan Republican and will do more to destroy the Tea Party and the cause of liberty than Obama ever could.
Listen, while I feel your pain, I don’t see how it is possible to stop Romney.
Newt is an unpredictable loose cannon who appears to be in the process of firing on himself...again. Santorum, though he is a good guy, does not seem to be able to convince conservatives to support him in any great numbers, which is absolutely necessary, and Ron Paul is rising, which is both insane and frightening.
We are about out of time in trying to find an anti-romney. perhaps there isn’t one at this time. Dunno what more to say on this.
1 state where the votes count has voted. Wonder what kind of percentage that is?
I don't think that is going to happen. We say we need to stop him but a lot of folks keep voting for him. His opponents weren't ready for this. They are weak when it comes to organization, money and planning. I don't think we can do anything about it.
“Listen, while I feel your pain, I dont see how it is possible to stop Romney.”
Here’s how.
1. Call your precinct chairman and ask.
2. If there isn’t one, call your county chairman and ask.
We can still stop Romney. It may require that we have a brokered convention, though.
Has any candidate ever won NH but not gotten the nomination?

He definitely has the advantage in terms of money and organization but I still think he would lose in a head to head matchup against any of the others (other than Ron Paul). Our one chance is probably to get all the conservatives but one to drop out and endorse the remaining conservative

The state of NH is small. Carries only 4 electoral votes.
It will be a long time before TX has a say, due to the (IN)Justice Departments lawsuit over the redistricting, being tied up in the court system. But is will have 38 electoral votes. (more than 9 times as many as NH)
Romney will NOT carry TX.....
The parties should have members sign on for a 5 or six year term before switching affiliations so troublemakers cannot cross lines for at least one presidential primary cycle. Since they don’t know how they would be needed 6 years down the line, they may decide to go honest. Independents should be just that - non participants - and wait until the general election.
Having people like Paul involved is nefarious undermining of the political consensus when all the conservatives split the vote.
This is getting to be a ‘bag job’, which is a term I have not heard in many years.
Since this is an in-house contest, stronger controls must be enforced to stop this sort of fraudulent political hijacking.
I agree. If it is going to be Mitt, at least we can look forward to ousting Obama. Lots of Dems who voted for Obama will be voting for Mitt.
We just need to keep our eyes on the prize: getting rid of Obama. We can deal with Mitt later.
Let’s wait and see what happens in South Carolina before predicting Gingrich can’t beat Romney. Things change SO Fast! This Bain thing could really bring Romney down.
Lots of them. Hillary Clinton comes to mind.
I think we should have 5 ten state primary dates with ten regionally diverse states taking place in each one.
Whoever is the GOP nominee it’s better than Obama.
Its too late—Mittens has won. Now we have only to step into place—and start marching while chanting “Mitt Is the One.”
The Tea Party is done—ask Fox News, ask Glen Beck, ask Sarah Palin. Step in line, Comrade, your arm band is in the mail.
The focus on Romney and Bain capital is important because it is the same focus that the left is preparing.
The left has started what they call, Democracy Schools, aimed at anti-corportists. They are tying the Democracy schools with the OWS movement and presenting them as focusing on individual rights and freedom, even property rights. What they are not telling the foolish students at their Democracy schools is that these schools are being run by the same NGOs who are hell bent in limiting their individual rights and regulating their lives into an unrecognizable third world condition.
The biggest focus of the anti-corporatist will be Mitt Romney. These Democracy Schools in Northwest WA were sponsored by the Democrat Congressman, Rick Larsen and are run by people from NGOs, like Sustainable Connections (Agenda 21 people).
Have you been listening to Rush??? Mitt is already shooting himself in the foot by making the comparison between Bain Capital and what Obama did in the auto industry. By the time that November rolls around, Mitt will be as low in the polls as McCain was and Sarah Palin won’t be of any help this time, either. I’ve lost faith in her, completely.
Mitt better than Obama—keep saying it—keep believing it—Mitt is the winner—Why even have any more Primaries? Mitt has bought them all—I betcha he’s going to win North Carolina and Florida too— By February its all over—Your primary is a waste of time—none of them will count as the election is fixed. Now we must all get together to support President Mittens in his Don Quixote charge on Obama—a charge he is slated to lose. thats the plan—lets make sure Mittens wins!!!
