Interesting activity none-the-less.

Can any geologists recognize the composition of the sedimentary rock removed from near a Fukushima reactor ? Image at blog above. Originally from post below.

Breaking News: Whistle-blower talks, container vessel is melting like honeycomb

Also, videos at the blog post below are very interesting. The first sped up video (poor quality) appears to show a platform and bus arrive at Reactor 4. The platform raises and a small group of workers walk around the top of the spent fuel pool floor. Then the platform raises to the floor above the spent fuel and a lot of workers climb up to that floor and scurry about. Very dangerous work. The second video shows a street leading to Fukushima where the bus of workers drives to the Fukushima plant (second part of video).

WATCH: Workers walk on top of Reactor No. 4… other interesting activity reported around plant

Any speculation about all this ? There had turned off the spent fuel pool water addition for reactor #3 over New Years due to clogged filters. That was supposed to be fixed a day or two before this activity. This new activity is on unit #4.

Here is a list of the first series of small earthquakes that occurred relatively close to Fukushima a few days after New Years. This was also a couple of days after the big earthquake that occurred south of Japan. Here is the recent series of quakes since December 30th.

Small quake before big New Years quake.
M4.8 – Near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

Big New Years Quake south of Japan.
M6.8 – Izu Islands, Japan Region

Small quake after first close to Fukushima.
M4.5 – Near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

Small quake Jan 5th close to Fukushima.
M5.0 – Near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

Another small quake close to Fukushima Jan 5th.
M4.9 – Near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

Then this small one occurred.
M5.0 – Near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

Another small one offshore near Fukushima.
M4.9 – Near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

Then on the 7th we had this one.
M4.6 – Near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

Followed by this one.
M4.7 – Near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

Then this one.
M5.1 – Off the East Coast of Honshu, Japan

During this time frame there were also a few much smaller quakes that occurred closer to Fukushima that were below a magnitude of [4.5].

“Last week, thousands of skiers took to the snow-covered slopes of Fukushima for the official seasonal start of the ski season in resorts across the mountainous region following heavy snowfall...
While the 12-mile exclusion zone surrounding Fukushima’s damaged plant remains strictly out of bounds, ski resorts in the surrounding mountains are open for business and keen to resume life as normal during its peak winter season.

Over the festive period, a number of Fukushima resorts have reported occupancy back to as high as 70 per cent compared to pre-disaster levels...”

Nuclear power is pure insanity. The media does not cover what is going on because they are owned by the same companies that built, operate, or own these plants. There is a lot of information on the internet about what is still going on. They are finding lots of radiation everywhere in Japan. Very dangerous food is being consumed before it is discovered to be dangerous. Soil, sea, and forests are contaminated. Even sewage is contaminated. And new building supplies. The powers to be do the best they can to cover it all up.

Now this is just from one plant. And mind you such a disaster could happen at any plant, and quite possibly at more than one plant at once anywhere in the world.

Think of a natural disaster such as a meteor or super volcano. And imagine what would happen at these plants in the aftermath. Or imagine a war destroying the infrastructure needed to keep these plants from going boom. Remember that you can’t just shut these things down and walk away. They have to be cooled for a long time before you can even remove the fuel. So even if you loose power for an extended time, or you loose personnel. If you can’t keep the whole ball of wax going for any reason then these things go boom. And this does not even include direct attacks on a plant. Just insanity.

Update - They have two medium sized cranes working on reactor #4 today. Sun will be setting over there in a few hours. Looks like one crane is trying to dismantle whats left of the top floor in the rear area of the building. They must be trying to remove weight stress from the lower floors. There is a second crane or possible water injection crane that is aimed right into the #4 SFP from above. Dang. Video just got fogged over.

JNN福島第一原発情報カメラ(LIVE)

BTW - They was an incident reported by Tepco related to the big earthquake on New Years day. They stated that water flow had shifted in the #4 SFP from the spent fuel pool to the skimmer tank and that the water level in the SFP was lowering. Then they stated that water was lowering in the skimmer tank and not in the SFP. They stated that the problem would soon be fixed. That all did not make much sense to me. New second hand report state a pipe broke and water boiled in #4 SFP.

Reactor 4 : Spent fuel pool was boiling without water after 1/1/2012

Looks like #4 might be getting ready to saddle up.

FYI - If anyone is interested, there was two small earthquakes off the coast of Fukushima earlier today. Now the JNN camera feed has been off, since they started working extensively on Reactor #4. Probably just a coincidence. Radiation levels around Fukushima #1 and #2 have not changed much. With the main camera down recommend these two sites to monitor any possible problems with #4 SFP. Keep track of the radiation levels.

Fukushima 1

Fukushima 2

Have actually identified some of these monitoring locations with Google translate. Can also explain the readings if anyone needs the help. Current highest reading equates to basically 1 chest xray exposure every 2 hours (location close to Fukushima 1 plant).
