Karma as it’s used in today’s speech has no more to fo with Hinduism than Easter has to do with the goddess Oestre. It is used to mean “ to get what’s coming to a person” nothing more. It’s a useful word.
I think you are partially right. I think there may come a day when the origins of karma are usurped by a secular definition. That day will come when I feel the threats of the “new age” deception, Hinduism/Bhuddism, inner “god” and yoga, etc. are no longer threats to the souls of Christians weak in their faith. I think that day is many decades away.
