As much as I hate to say it, it is looking like conservatives should start backing Newt as their candidate of unfortunate choice, if they really want Obama gone.
If you are taking flak, you must be over the target... you can tell who libs fear most by watching the ferocity of attacks... they fear newt
Newt is going to frigging clean up.
Enjoy NH, Romney. We will gift you one win.

I have always liked Newt. I thought he was unelectable, but now I’m not so sure. If he gains the nomination, we will find out what this country is made of because I have no doubt he will not cave like McCain did and act like running for president was just another civics lesson. No perfect candidate exists and I have been going back and forth over these few months, so I’m going with the smartest and most tenacious. That is not to say I wouldn’t support Perry or Santorum, I would in a heartbeat in a one-on-one with The One.
I can agree with this but there has to be more to choosing a president than debating skills. Record has to account for something.
You’re doing an awesome job. Thank you very much. I hope we can add worthy links to your work, like musicman has.
Very interesting, and very savvy of you to be on top of this:
It looks like the MSM/fake-poll-spun Romney may wind up being
Gingrich’s warm-up act, as Romney ideally (to me) may serve as a stand-in for the final opponent, Obama.
Gingrich, primarily, but all others collectively may help in delivering slow-mo knockout punches over the coming months
to the “inevitable” Romney
nomination.
Regardless of what an “acceptably” good game Romney talks
in his quest for Independents and disaffected former Obama
supporters, his message simply is not going to reach millions of important voters who see themselves as making
a life-or-death decision in the primaries this year and November. Romney simply WON’T present himself as a viable alternative to Obama—he doesn’t have the fire in the belly, NOR the rhetorical/factual wherewithal to do so.
On the other hand, Gingrich is so “policy-ready” on the debate floor, that every little tidbit he puts out is grabbed and spun by the MSM to put it in the most negative light as quickly as possible (black schoolkids apprenticing as janitors, etc. etc.)
The fact is, Gingrich’s arguments and positions on just about everything BEGIN at a point most of his opponent’s
arguments NEVER GET TO: that constitutes a practical weakness he will have to straighten out right quick—how to
avoid having every little proposal you make demagogued by
the MSM, the Obama Surrogates, and ALSO your “fellow Republicans”.
NO ONE will win the nomination without Tea party support,
and now that Cain and Bachmann are gone, that leaves fewer and fewer candidates to draw that constituency to them.
Without knowing about these polls, I was forecasting the same results to someone I was having a “discussion” with last night at our annual New Year’s Chamber of Commerce meeting in Bergen COunty , New Jersey.
We all stand behind any candidate other than Romney to do as well as he can: for me, this means Gingrich.
That's not a wing of the party, it's the party establishment.
Excellent post..great job on research and most of all YOU made my day!!!!!!!!!!! The SC majority leader endorsed Newt. Romney is in SC now trying to buy votes. I do think the southerners are a lot more savvy as to the political tricks and scams by both Romney and the RNP..oh and toss in Fox News.
Wish I could plaster your post all over SC, VA, Georgia and NH!!!!
Santorum is a good man, but will never win a national election.
I like your thesis, but I’m confused about the poll numbers. The ones that I could find through the links for each state listed are mostly a few weeks old going back as far as the beginning of December. Do we have polling data that show that Newt is still maintaining that kind of strength in the last few days?
“flakiest GOP primary electorate in history”
Why oh why is anyone that follows politics making a claim like this?
Name me one presidential election cycle in the last TWENTY YEARS (That is after the Reagan years for those in Rio Linda) that didn’t fit this description???????
We are always left with the option of voting while holding our noses.
Santorum has overtaken Gingrich in the only recent pair of South Carolina polls, released yesterday 1/5/12. See above.
