Former House Speaker Gingrich on MSNBC yesterday:
Newt said following a New Hampshire town hall meeting that voters had a choice between a "bold Reagan conservative" and a "timid Massachusetts moderate", going on to call the idea Romney was most electable as "silly".
And although he has little chance of defeating Romney in New Hampshire -who owns a home there and is up twenty points- it's great to see Newt not waiting to come at him: Mittens is a coward who likes to lob mortars from hiding, the kind that doesn't like to get called out on the rug... as Newt is proceeding to do.
After NH, it's on to South Carolina, where Newt enjoys a fifteen-point lead, followed by delegate-rich Florida, where Gingrich is out front at +7 and Mittens stuck at a 30% ceiling... a win there would put Newt instantly out-front in the delegate count.
Doubt that's what you'd be getting with a Gingrich presidency?
Art Laffer want to have a talk with you, then: he was there, as was Newt...and says that's exactly what you can expect.
Now the moment you've all been waiting for... [YouTube]
Mitt's been running for President so long that many people are ready to accept that he deserves the nomination.
BTW, did anyone besides us get a call from the RNC last night asking for money????
We told them that we were donating to the candidates of our choice and hung up the phone.
Well, the establishment for sure is terrified of Newt winning. The establishment never forgave him for pushing the Clinton impeachment through the House and forcing the weakling Republican senate to deal with it. Naturally the senate folded.
But I remember Gore walking out on the White House lawn with a bunch of loser, no account democrats after the House impeachment, and blasting the Republicans for impeaching their beloved Billy. This was the first big step to Gore’s defeat in the 2000 presidential election.
It is in great measure Newt Gingrich’s leadership that brought the Clinton criminal enterprise down. People sometimes forget that, but I don’t. The only problem is that after Newt left, the leadership and power was once again handed to the establishment and in a few short years they ran it into the ground. We need Newt’s strength and leadership now! The time is short.
I have no love for newt.. but if he can remove mittens and maybe get Santorum or Perry the nomination more power too him
Newt tried to keep it civil. He tried to tell everyone they would be better off if they kept their attacks on Obama. But when Romney and Paul realized they couldn’t beat him in the debates, they unleashed the dogs. Well what is Newt supposed to do? We see what happens when he just takes it. Too many Iowans forget about the debates and get scared over the same commercial that runs over and over again. If 41% were still undecided the day before the caucus, that shows how much confusion those ads created. That’s what the ads were for. They weren’t there to tell us why Romney or Paul would be the best choice, but to simply take cheap shots at someone they can’t compete with on stage. The sad part is so many gullible Iowans fell for it. The sad part is it tells us whoever has the most money wins. Well let Newt start attacking and let’s see if Romney can handle the heat. If Romney wants to dish it out, he better be able to take it.
Everyone on the righ gets put thru the meat grinder but Mittens and Obambi gets the soft glove treatment?
Give ‘em hell Newt! Round one of Whack-O-Willard.
Ok “Old Retired Army Guy” wouldn’t you just give your right Testicle to watch a President Gingrich “State of the Union” Speech.
bump
I will put love aside and vote what is best for my family’s future. I understand the strategy being presented of Newt taking out Romney to clear the path for Santorum. I do not believe this will happen. If Newt can take Romney down, he will easily show that he is the conservative power and he will win the nomination.
As for Rick Perry, I like a lot about him. Once he made his concession speech Tuesday night and decided to ‘reassess’, he tipped his hand. He deflated his support and will not win. Perhaps next time for him, but this year, no. Santorum has solid conservative credentials, but I don’t think he is not up to overcoming Newt this year. Again, a great future, but for the times we are living in now, I am with Newt.
Obama will be getting a preview of what's headed his way via Newt's handling of Romney. Ol' Axelrod be trying to up his product offering by tearing down Congress while lying about 'helping' the middle class. His house-African plans to run against government?
Ain't gonna work. Newt will rub Bammie's record in his face as no other candidate could.
The Left's first mistake was to ignore Bozeroe's Kenyan/white socialist genetics, preferring instead to concentrate on skin color (while ignoring his ears). Blacks that I've known wouldn't depend on a 'promter and strike an arrogant Mussolini pose like this clown.
Lucky for us, they didn't seek a charismatic black with personality- but then, such a person might not possess the same intense desire to destroy capitalism the way this 'foreign' national does.
You could find an abundance of blacks who hate GW Bush, hate the Man, maybe hate whitey, but hate America? Whoa!, for that, you have to tap a Muslim. And that's just what they did; and it's gonna bite them hard this year. Just watch.
A well thought out and reasoned view nice and sometimes rare to see here :)
“Glad to see Newt taking the fight to Romney.”
ME TOO- sick of waiting
Its about time Newt engaged. His experiment in positive campaigning is hopefully over.
Thanks for your courtesy. We are living in interesting times :)
I don’t know if you are a Pennsylvanian, R69, but there is a lot of DemocRAT back story about the Penn Hills School District (President of school board was an Allegheny County DemocRAT operative) and the house (piled up with junk mail, footsteps from the in laws front door ) was a little media payback. Santorum isnt perfect (who is?) but a lot of what you posted was just wrong.
Hillbuzz, and I was a long time “Buzzer” until Kevin DuJan went off the rails and banned dozens of long time posters. Kevin is very Patriotic, uses his blog to support many conservative causes and issues (he was all in for Gov. Palin) he still first and foremost is a Gay activist—he hates Santorum for his stand on Gay marriage.
Your statement is confusing but the people who elected Obama comprise, what someone here on FreeRepublic called the “free-shit army!” Membership is not exclusively black. I’m sorry, I’ve gone astray. What was your point?
Not defending Romney, I'd detest him as president. Just saying that the argument "I'd win by a wider margin" is, at bottom, irrelevant to the party leadership.
It’s sad we’re down to anyone but Romney and all the while the GOP is shoving him down our throats.
“Its about time Newt engaged. His experiment in positive campaigning is hopefully over.”
I think it most certainly is. If you’ll recall, playing the elder-statesman and mature guy above all the petty bickering was working perfectly for Gingrich into early December, when Willard decided he had to go negative. Gingrich was blindsided, and the rest will be history.
“Spend NH blasting his ship, spend SC and FL reeling in the delegates.”
EXACTLY- he knows what he’s doing
He also didn’t have the $ or organization to fight back effectively, a situation that’s improved somewhat
