In a campaign speech late Tuesday night, Governor Rick Perry stated that he is "returning to Texas" to reassess whether he is going to continue running for President.
The speech contained several emotional moments, in particular two moments. The first was when he read a letter from an adoring supporter who called him a "great man." The letter described a conversation that Mr. Perry had had with a soldier and how his supporter looked on in awe as he watched Governor Perry call the veteran his "Christian brother."
The second was when Perry announced that he would be returning to Texas to reassess whether he will continue his pursuit for the White House. Mr. Perry paused several times and appeared to be on the verge of tears as he winded down his speech.
Governor Perry came in fifth place in the Iowa caucus today, barely breaking ten percent of the vote. His announcement tonight likely marks the end to his campaign.
I agree. He was too quick out of the shoot after his back surgery. No way I could endure the campaign trail with that weighing on me physically. Go home. Get some rest. Consider a VP spot.
are you really basing your pick on Iowa?.. LMAO.. are you saying that if Santorum wins the Iowa pot luck supper straw poll and Romney wins his home state of NH and Gingrich wins SC(the first REAL primary) Gingrich should drop out?
Dedicated to you Good Governor Perry.
Never gonna keep me down

Oh well. We can fight that all night but it doesn’t matter as Perry is done. Why waste our time on a candidate who lost. We need to look forward to assisting Santorum to become the next President of the United States.
I listened to Perry’s speech. It was not the speech of a man who is staying in the race.
Likewise for Bachmann. I suspect they’ll both drop out before New Hampshire. Perhaps tomorrow. And perhaps with endorsements already on their lips.
I hope he endorses Santorum before dropping out.
I’m keeping my tag until forced to change it.
I find him likable and he has a great record to back him up. But unfortunately his debate performances were so rough that it’s impossible to imagine him beating Obama...particularly with the media trashing him for sounding stupid - and you know they’ll do this.
That “oops” moment was really really bad.
Santorum is yapping it up about his dead daughter.
I understand his heart for her, but is this a winning campaign speech?
Its pretty weird.
I was one of the first on FR to defend him, but this **** is getting weird.
You talk about your dead kids in campaign speeches to win the general electorate?
That’s just your opinion. If you think that Santorum can win, you are living in an alternate universe
Perry needs to take advantage of the time and bone-up on his debating skills, because he may very well be the top choice of all the candidates for their VP slot. I think he would be a tremendous asset to the ticket, be it Santorum or Newt.
I agree with you, unfortunately illness can not be an excuse in a run for President. Kennedy ran with a back ailment that would have sidelined an average human, yet we didn’t know about it until he was dead.
Mitts up, praising Santorum AND Ron Paul!
Isn’t that special?
Theyre all just the same!
******* “ I think a Santorum/Perry ticket makes a lot of sense. Provides the best geographical balance of any ticket. “ *******
Love it
BUMP
TT
Now get your gals together and head to Austin and throw that liberal loser a big ole welcome home pe-rade (parade for everyone else).
Perry is leaving this cycle, but he got his name out there, made himself a national presence, shook out some cobwebs and gained experience, and is returning to his now, more visible Governor’s seat, of the great state of Texas.
I imagine that we will see him again.
I needn’t change my tagline.
Thats just your opinion. If you think that Santorum can win, you are living in an alternate universe
Oh poor baby. Was your candidate a loser tonight. Sour loser does not look attractive. The future is President Sanotrum.
Oh he was just explaining where his daughter was. Stop being jealous. Your candidate lost big. I laugh about it. Go President Santorum!!!!!
