Whoopi Goldberg Calls Communism a ‘Great Concept’ That ‘Makes Perfect Sense’

Coming off an apparent fart — or not — on live TV last week, Whoopi Goldberg declared on “The View” Tuesday that communism is “a great concept” that “makes perfect sense.”

Her comments came during a discussion with her fellow hosts about the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, after establishing that his son and successor, Kim Jong Un, had been educated in Switzerland.

“If you say that this is how our culture is and then you send your child to a Swiss boarding school — you know, this is what happens with communism. It’s a great concept. On paper it makes perfect sense. But once you put a human being in power, it shifts. We saw it in Russia, we’ve seen it all around the world. It’s nuts. But, I keep my fingers crossed.”

That’s kind of like saying “Smallpox isn’t really harmful until it infects someone.”

No social or economic model that completely ignores human behavior (in the individual or the collective sense) makes ‘perfect sense’, on paper or otherwise. Communism doesn’t even work in ant colonies or bee hives (there is that queen to care for, after all...).

She is right in one way but wrong in another way. Marxism assumed power to the proletariat at the expense of the ruling class (which ran counter to thousands of years of human civilization) and that the new ruling class, composed of the proletariat, would rule in nothing but fairness and unicorns for all. Wait, Marxism was wrong on all counts...so she is just flat wrong. Do not read this post as it just rehashes what we already know to be the actual case.

I can't stand Whoopie either but not one other FReeper seems to have noticed that she essentially said that communism has never worked and never can work.
