Fox News Bill OReilly gets a lot of flak for taking note of the war on Christmas. But hes absolutely right: There has been a concerted effort, by anti-religious secularists and God-haters, to deprecate the cultural significance of Christmas. And, unfortunately, theyve been very successful.
Why, walk into any store in any large metro area (New York, Chicago, L.A., D.C., et al.), or any governmental complex, and youll rarely, if ever, hear someone say, Merry Christmas. Those words are now taboo. Happy Holidays is all the rage, and the implication is clear: Christmas is nothing special; its just another holiday, like Labor Day or New Years Day.
So it is refreshing (albeit not surprising) to hear a prominent Israeli Jew, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, say aloud what too many American Christians are afraid to say publicly...
I’ll take Netahyahu over the Obamaloon any day.
Happy Hanukkah, to you Mr. Netanyahu.
Thanks for this thread.
At Christ-Mass time, it is important to remember that Jesus Christ was born a Jew, from a long line of Jews, in a Jewish Country, and always lived in Jewish Country.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL!
“Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah”...a ‘holiday’ greeting that works for me, and has worked in America for decades...
To borrow a quote from the flag-page of a VERY wise FReeper:
- When my country, into which I had just set my foot, was set on fire about my ears, it was time to stir. It was time for every man to stir.

With Paines quote in mind, let us examine ourselves a bit.
Do we sit politely on our hands and let the counter-culture manipulate us?
If so, do we even recognize that we are being manipulated?
In my humble, but ALWAYS correct opinion, manipulation by the counter-culture is done by the following:
Outlawing racial profiling; promotion of Freedom from Religion; The American Civil Liberties Destruction Union (ACLDU); accusations of being a Right-Wing Extremist, Right-Wing Hypocrite, Right-Wing Millionaire, Right-Wing Businessman, etc.; and of course, that all inclusive violation of the non-existant, (thank you Reagan for your timely veto), Fairness Doctrine.
Feel free to add to this manipulation list, as it is high time for us to shed the self-imposed tolerance of the shackles that keep us from living up to the standards that our Founding Fathers fought so hard to set in place for us, the polite frogs that just float around in the almost boiling pot of hot water.
As a Jew I am happy and proud to wish my Christian friends Merry Christmas. No issue here. Political correctness is killing America. ACLU and the ADL are useless.
As a non liberal Orthodox Jew I will say it :
Merry Christmas!!!!
and if they force Kwanzaa on me
Happy Festivus!!!!
I love Bibi.
It has been my happy observation this year that, in our neighborhood (fairly affluent Philadelphia suburb), there has been a marked increase of Merry-Christmas-wishing in public venues. I’d guesstimate the ratio of “Merry Christmas” to “Happy Holidays” has been about 5 to 1. And lots of cars are sporting Christmas bumper stickers. I think people here are fed up with having the elites tell us what we can and cannot do during the celebration of Christmas.
