IMHO -- Only A Liberal Would Think This Makes Sense
In My Honest Opinion ^ | 12/15/11 | averagedad1

Now, back to the topic at hand. From the Fox News article:

New Haven Mayor John DeStefano, a Democrat, said on Tuesday that illegal immigrants pay taxes indirectly through rent and send their children to local schools — and therefore should be able to vote. The proposal would also lead to a more engaged community, he said.

Only a liberal would think that this makes sense. An illegal immigrant should have the right to vote because pays taxes through their rent and sends their children to local schools.

Where do we begin?

Let’s start with the fact that they are ILLEGAL immigrants. That alone makes them a criminal! They broke American immigration law to come here in the first place. Now, this liberal Democrat wants to reward criminal behavior.

As a former landlord it is a fallacy that renters pay taxes through rent.No they do not and most states have it so if taxes go up the rent is set at whatever the leases says it is until it expires.Taxes seldom ever go down.

That assertion is ridiculous. The owner would be paying property tax whether the property was leased out or not. That’s like saying if an illegal shops at Wal-Mart he’s paying for Walmart’s property tax and thus should get in-state tuition.

Here is how I would do it.

Have separate voting spots for “Undocumented Voters”. Invite all undocumented voters to exercise their opportunity to vote.

Have them sign up, register, get a photo ID and vote all in one shot.

Then cuff em, stuff em and ship em, baby!

It all makes sense if you realize that New Haven is the home of Yale. Enough said.

If the people of a particular city or state want to allow illegal immigrants to vote, they should be able to do so. That’s what federalism means. You have the right to do really stupid things to yourselves.

Federal elections, whole other story.

Should have said they should have the right to choose to allow whoever they want to vote in specifically local or state elections.

The original Constitution says nothing about who gets to vote at the state level. Not surprisingly, since qualifications varied wildly by state at the time.

Amendments since have changed things, of course.

Of course it’s rediculous! Seldom to liberal arguments put two coherent thoughts together with logical connections. They draw conclusions on clouds with invisible ink from a unicorn horn dipped in pixidust.

(Ooh that’s good! I’m gonna keep that one.)

So anyone who commits a crime but rents gets the crime forgiven?

I was going to disagree with you until I got to the end of your post. Then I had no choice but to laugh!

Especially since this is in Connecticut where liberals have been doing stupid things for as long as anyone can remember.

I think this is racist for implying that illegal immigrants are too poor to be home owners. /sarc
