So, what you are saying is that we must pass federal laws to protect ourselves and society from ourselves as we are incapable of making informed personal decisions or guiding ourselves at the state and local level?

This strawman of pretending that conservatives want federal laws about everything is getting extremely tiresome. I would say that what conservatives want is to have the fedgov butt out of states being able to make the laws they see fit to make.

But, then there is that whole morality thing?!? Those federal laws are OK, right? The role of the federal government, as outlined by the Constitution, leaves these matters at the state level. Desiring to leave the federal government out of the issue is not the same as accepting it.
