Michele Bachmann's 2nd Surge, by Jerry McGlothlin
WND ^ | 12-4-11 | Jerry McGlothlin

With Herman Cain out of the race, is Michele Bachmann poised for a second surge? And is there a biblical precedent for electing a woman president?

Many people forget that Michele Bachman had a first surge that briefly made her the GOP presidential primary frontrunner.

She appealed to secular conservatives due to positions espousing smaller government and low taxes. Evangelical Christians loved her unashamed positions on issues of faith.

But somewhere along the way. Evangelicals questioned the biblical teachings on submission for women, wondering if it would be a 'sin' to vote for a woman President.

So, is there a biblical precedent for a woman president?

Yes. In a word: Deborah.

In Judges, Chapters 4 and 5, there was an eerily similar pattern to today's political and economic state of America. Ancient Israel had fallen on tough times. They had rejected Yahweh God and embraced the ways of the world.

Enter Deborah, a prophetess, a righteous judge and a "Mother in Israel" (read: Rep. Bachmann with five biological children and 23 foster kids).

A man named Barak – really, we're not making this stuff up – was supposed to lead the Israelites to fight evil Sisera. But Barak wimped out, refusing to go unless Deborah went with him. So Deborah led the charge but prophesied that the glory of the battle would go to a woman.

Ultimately Deborah's ally, Jael (another woman), killed cruel commander Sisera by hammering a tent peg through his temple, ushering in 40 years of peace for Israel.

Conclusion: There is a biblical precedent set for God sending a woman to do a man's job when a man isn't willing to boldly step up to the plate to get the job done.

There is no doubt that she’s a rock solid conservative who means business.

All of Cain’s support went to Newt. Cain will go to Newt by endorsement and because Cain will be vindicated— Newt will take Cain as VP and WIN!!. This thing is over unless you want that socialists from Massachusetts.Get on the boat or let obammy win!!

Actually that’s one thing I really like about Newt. If he thought it was politically smart, he’d still pick Cain for VP and tell the media to shove it.

We haven’t elected someone to the White House with just the House on their resume since 1860, and that was a freak 4-way race.

Bachmann and Santorum are the only two conservatives left in the race. I'd support either one.

The other folks still running don't do anything for me.

I can almost smell him picking Trump for VP so they can self-finance the campaign.

“All of Cain’s support went to Newt.”

Mine didn’t.

I’d never vote for that whore Gingrich.

I agree with you. Newt is no conservative. Forget the horse and buggy show he is doing now. He’ll soon revert to the Newt we all believed in before (mid-90s) but were disappointed in when he sold us down the river. He has a huge ego. He has as much cronyism as Obama does and Obama will nail him on it. He is full of ideas, but that is all they ever amount to. Ideas that he talks a lot about, but never implements. Before anything is done he is off to something else. I’ve tried to warn that he will (should he win) cause us to lose big in 2016 because conservatives will see once again that he fooled them and realize that Newt cannot change his colors. Talk is cheap. His ability to debate well is not an indication that he will lead well. That is all a front. We need a conservative, not a talking point with a huge ego.

Except of course for James A. Garfield in 1880 who was a sitting member of the House of Representatives and a Senator-elect from the State of Ohio when elected President. He became President-elect and then President, and then dead soon thereafter.

Quite a guy...

Sorry...but I really have a problem equating Bachmann with Deborah..or any other Biblical person.

She is a politician..just like any other.

Not great..not horrible..just another politician.

Not many have tried. If the nominee is congressman or woman, he or she can win.

But hey, amnesty, gw, individual mandate in obamacare are fine so lets just go with the serial adulterer.

We can stop radical rightwing social engineers!

We haven’t elected a woman either and we hadn’t elected a black man until obama. There is always time for a first.

Newt is just a fast talking McCain, he is everywhere, reaching across the aisle when it suits him.
