Businessman Herman Cain has officially suspended his presidential campaign citing "false and unproved allegations" and "distractions and hurt" to himself and his family. He is moving on to what he calls Plan B - pushing his solutions to the nation's problems from outside the electoral process. But before his presidential campaign fades into history, there are some lessons to be learned from how the Cain train turned into the Cain train wreck.

GOOD try little johnnie, its over. I said what I had to say and I PTL it is over. The article accruately describes how Cain destroyed himself. None of us did this to him, he alone is responsible.

Take your anger and go sit in the closet and pout, no one is interested in your pit bull replys.

I suspect Cain will comes out and endorses NEWT, what will you do then??? NOTICE, Newt has never ever said an unkind word against CAIN, unlike you Cain backers who use every vile and vicious words you can think of to attack those of us who do not fall down and worship your guy.

I now dedicate this and all other THREADs regarding this issue to/as the CAIN backers MOURNING THREAD.

The article pretty well sums it up accurately.
_____________________________________

I take offense to the last point in the article that Cain's lack of knowledge doomed his candidacy. What we need in public office today are many more citizen patriots and not corrupt career politicians. Patriots who serve a term or two and then go back to the private world and make a living. The Country is fed up with career politicians who hold office their entire life and act as though they have it coming to them like Mitt Romney. Some gripe about Cain's lack of knowledge, but I will take someone with patriotism over someone who is a know it all politician like Newt any day. As Cain said, if you surround yourself with like minded, knowledgeable advisers, you can overcome lack of knowledge on a particular topic. So we have to make up our minds whether we want more of the same or someone that is outside the status quo.

I am for Newt I don't care about a candidate's personal life. I suspect Cain suspended his campaign to preserve his marriage. I respect him for that...

"Paging Sarah Palin - Please pick up the white courtesy telephone."

In case folks have forgotten, the LibMSM was starting a new phase of Palin destruction involving innuendo about her choices for sexual partners. Wherever the Obozo campaigns, his opponents run into a buzz saw of this type of 'accusation'. They can either sit still and take it or get out of the way. Truth is of no importance. The bell, once rung, cannot be unrung.

I believe you could be right. After the first vote most delegates can change their vote and I’m not sure any of the current candidates will get the required number.

If Cain’s version of the narrative is true, he should have taken a page from Justin Bieber (and his handlers): threaten to bring them into court for libel. That is the only way to handle such allegations.

Since Herman didn't take them to court, what does that tell you? It tells me there might have been some fire with all that smoke.

Gary Hart was proven guilty of the media charges, there is no such proof with Cain.

Keep in mind that the media thinks of themselves as part of the Royal Court. As they see it, it is their duty and their state to be loyal to the current King. The King’s machine with media a part - entertainment and news - has to toe the line and will destroy ANYONE who could threaten the King’s power. That’s if they want to keep their status and wealth- and vane, status addicted talking heads have only that.

There was CLEAR warning with the Joe the Plumber incident and how the local political machine and media fell in place to discredit a citizen that had the contemptable gall to ask Obama a question.

Very challenging times. Media/DNC in control of everyone’s image.

And if ANYONE thinks Google, Facebook, Twitter or any of these sites we venture on are safe of anonymous and benign, I would think again.

Sites like Sugardaddy beckon people to try them out...take a look. And they are collecting finger prints from the door knob.

Attackwatch.com. Indeed.

Very good analysis. You hit on every bump that led to the derailment of the Cain train. It was not only the media’s smearing sluts that derailed that train.

If Bachmann hadn't gaffed her way into oblivion and single digits after her first few weeks, if she ever came back and led in the polls, she would likewise get destroyed.

She's just not important enough for the MSM to care.

They will come after Newt with a vengeance now.

A married man who allegedly, without his wife’s knowledge, provided money to another woman for an alleged 13 years and allegedly had been sending text messages to said woman at 4:30 in the morning is going to have problems explaining his alleged actions to the American people.

The two issues that have not been revealed are, how much money did he send her and what was the content of the text messages.

If Cain sues for defamation, he will be the plaintiff and will bear the burden of proof to show that it is more likely than not that these women intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly made false statements to injure his reputation. 14 years after the fact, he will have a difficult case carrying that burden of proof. Additionally, the court cases would take 22 months on average. And if he loses even one suit, that would be misunderstood by the public to mean that what the sleazebag said was true.

Bieber’s case was perfect because his dumbass accuser made a statement that could absolutely be proved true or false. Believe it or not, there might still be some issues with intent, but he can definitely prove it false. Cain can’t because the claims were so vague that there’s very little to get the hooks in.

The “American People” knew what Clinton was, and they voted for him anyway.....I think these things are blown way out of proportion.

By the way, Bachmann gaffes are really very few. Other than that she is a conservative and she is very tenacious.

She would be far better than Newt, who likes Newt more than anything, or Romney who thinks it is his turn.

I don’t much care anymore. I will vote against Obozo, but whoever it is won’t be a conservative.

It’s not just the lefties; it was Romney, Gingrich and Perry that helped.

“The “American People” knew what Clinton was, and they voted for him anyway.....I think these things are blown way out of proportion.”

I agree.

In 1992 Clinton went on 60 Minutes and said claimed to not have had sex with Gennifer Flowers but confessed that he had not always been faithful. In that interview, he inoculated himself from such accusations.

Cain denied having ever been unfaithful to his wife and then comes a woman who likely has a paper trail with bank transactions and text messages.

Yes, I am wondering what the Cain supporters are talking about.

He admitted giving money to the woman and that his wife didn't know about her.

He brought this on himself and should have realized that it could have come out in his campaign.

Thank goodness it came out before he was the nominee.
