ScienceDaily (Nov. 24, 2011) — A new study suggests that the rate of global warming from doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide may be less than the most dire estimates of some previous studies -- and, in fact, may be less severe than projected by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report in 2007.
Authors of the study, which was funded by the National Science Foundation's Paleoclimate Program and published online this week in the journal Science, say that global warming is real and that increases in atmospheric CO2 will have multiple serious impacts.
However, the most Draconian projections of temperature increases from the doubling of CO2 are unlikely.

CO2 can not be a significant factor in climate.
This is clear because of the way the CO2 cycle works. The largest holder of CO2 is the world ocean. When it gets warmer the ocean gives off C02. When it gets colder the ocean absorbs more CO2.
Therefore, if CO2 was a principle driver of climate, the earth would run to one extreme of hot or cold, and never come back. In short, there is no balancing element in the CO2=climate theory.
This is impossible. I have it on unimpeachable authority that “the science is settled” with respect to global warming.
And will any of the scammers go to jail?
No. But they will redouble their efforts to convince everyone the global warming is a threat so as to get more grant money, oops, I mean save the Earth.
Let's "Limbaugh" this: What they are saying is to scale back the rhetoric so more GW skeptics will get on board.
They still believe CO2 is destroying the earth - at least the man made CO2. But, they are getting hammered by reason and logic so curtailing the rhetoric and claims of doom will appeal to those on the fence thus reinforcing their original claim that AGW is, in fact, a man made problem that will require many more laws and rules and regulations and taxes - just not all at once.
They are in NO way suggesting the original claims were wrong. Just that we have more time to put new regs in place. The earth can still be saved by the enviro-whackos.
True but that is based on equilibrium with the atmosphere (same partial pressure). The natural warming from the Little Ice Age would have produced a 5 or 10 ppm rise in the atmosphere. Instead there was a 100 ppm rise (so far) due to fossil fuel burning. So now to maintain equilibrium the ocean is taking up CO2 from the atmosphere even as the ocean gets warmer.

That's a good point. On the warm side the limit comes from the fact that there is finite CO2 in the ocean and each additional increment of CO2 warms less than the previous. That same logarithmic effect helps limit the depth of the cold in glacial periods. Also the ocean plant life helps save us from getting too cold as the cold waters also allow more oxygen to be dissolved in the ocean water and thus create a algae which creates more CO2 which exits into the atmosphere.
But your point is correct, CO2 is not the driver, it is merely a weak amplifier of other drivers like solar and cosmic rays (solar-modulated). Albedo is a much stronger amplifier than CO2. CO2 is a bit player except for the lowest amounts which are crucial for habitability.

But the Supreme Court used this data to give the EPA power to shut down the country. Amazing. Now how do we reverse it?

After a decade of actual measured temperatures have indicated that the recent slight warming trend has stopped, the geniuses at Global Warming Headquarters are finally admitting that they might have been wrong. Yet they still end each article that admits that the “settled science” may not be so settled after all, with the mantra: “but we must act immediately to cut CO2 before things get even more dire.”
Going by the data derived from ice cores, the increase in CO2 follows or lags the increase in temperature. Some of the articles I have read say that lag may be years in length.
Like your example, the ocean warms then gives off more CO2, all of the feedback results show CO2 lagging the increase in temperature. This leads me to the conclusion that there where no scientists involved or that the scientists involved where exceedingly stupid.

AAAAHHH! Backwards? Cold water allows more CO2 to be dissolved/carried in the water and algae takes in CO2 and gives off O2.
Oops. Well, suffice to say cold water is not just a CO2 absorber, and there are processes to create CO2 underwater as well which ultimately raises the atmospheric CO2.
