It's also a lie that he supports amnesty.
The FDA's very conservative Bush-appointed vaccination approval board had already put Gardasil on the "recommended" list, meaning that every girl who qualified for the "Vaccines for Children" program would receive that vaccine free of charge to them. The VfC includes Medicaid, CHIPs, Indian Health Service, uninsured and those whose insurance will not pay for vaccines at all. We had over 5 years experience with the vaccine in February, 2007, and it has since been recommended for boys and girls. (Merck is the only one that makes the vaccine.)
Perry was not "campaign chairman" for Al Gore, even in 1988, and he voted for GHWBush that year. He changed to Republican in 1989, at the age of 39, even though his home county remained Democrat - and his dad was a Democrat County Commissioner. (On the other hand, Herman Cain has admitted that he voted for Clinton in 1992 - he was already in his late 40's, then. His wife still says she's a Democrat.)
Wayne Christian, who has been voted "Most Conservative Texan" by the Texas Eagle Forum, had this to say about being a Democrat in Texas and the Trans Texas Corridor:
Fact is, as recently as a couple of decades ago, we had no Republican primary in my part of rural Texas.
Thus, Governor Perry, who entered state politics farther back than me, was courageous enough to take a stand early on and join other statesmen like Ronald Reagan and Phil Gramm in acknowledging that the Democratic Party had left their conservative beliefs behind.
Much has been criticized of Governor Perrys initial support for the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC). As President of the Conservative Coalition of the Texas Legislature, I was deeply involved in that entire process. My rural district was directly in the path of the TTC and the project was largely viewed by my constituents as an abuse of the governmental power of eminent domain.
Truth is, the TTC started as a expansion on the I-35 corridor. The plan was added to legislation by the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) as a new branch of highway that ran from south Texas to the north right through my district. TXDOT presented facts that upon the completion of the Panama Canal expansion many of the trading freighters, which currently only serve the West Coast, would be able to bring their cargo to Texas ports.
It was anticipated that this would place a tremendous burden on the current highway system as it heads north. However, the flawed TXDOT presentation of the plan and threats to private land ownership were not handled well. Citizens throughout Texas were insulted by the methods of potential property seizure, foreign control of Texas properties and other abuses.
It was wrong, and when presented with the will of Texas citizens, Governor Perry put a stop to it.
>>>Removing an extended news article on Rick Perry from the sidebar<<<
If you’re talking about this thread...
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2812219/posts
it’s not really a news article. It’s essentially a press release written as news and posted on Perry’s campaign website by a member or members of his staff. My guess is it also got e-mailed out to supporters. A distinction can fairly be drawn between sourced news articles and promotional campaign material.
If all other threads that sourcelink to something posted on a campaign website are handled in the same way, then a fair and consistent FR posting guideline is in evidence.
I do. He matters.
Remember the lawsuit, that Texas won, through the Supreme Court. I’ll bet that President Bush was aware of the “criticixms.”
The Governor has had much more criticism for Obama than one letter, and he did much more than write about his criticism of bad policy during the Bush years. He acted, he followed through.
Well, it isn’t consistent it is only toward Perry articles. I can show you plenty of articles on extended and frontpage for Newt and Cain who have remained. If you are going to be fair and balanced at FR then those should ALL be pulled as well. They are not therefore there is no comparison. I would bow to your premise if it was fair and balanced.
“Their negativity has no place here and their disdain for patriots speaks for itself. “
YOUR distain for Americans speaks for itself! You hold up a politician that is more likely to support Mexico than the US and claim anyone against him is not a patriot. Screw you!
“The Whinos here think they know better than a Navy Seal. “
There are SEAls on FR that don’t like Perry.
“Vote Perry. I will.”
Sorry to hear it. I prefer pro-American candidates.
B.S. Actually, if more conservatives were to know more about Perry's sleazy record, he would be trailing behind Huntsman. Perry is a fraud.
LOL! You’re a joke.
Because we laugh at your RINO candidate Perry we are a joke? Sounds like a childish comeback. What’s next, are you going to say something about my mother?
Oh, Shield, I have to post something about Perry from the Dallas Morning News today. Gotta run down and get it.
I’m back. This is from a column on the editorial page by Colleen McCain Nelson, a real biddy. It’s supposedly about Perry being Texan of the year. it is totally snarky. Here’s the excerpt I’m talking about.
“When Perry’s star was still on the upswing, he laid out his priorities for the legislative session.
And while focusing on the state’s budget crises might have seemed the obvious choice, Perry had an entirely different idea about what constituted ‘emergency items.’
Banning sanctuary cities, requiring sonograms before abortions and discouraging lawsuits against business were among the issues that topped his list.’
This beachy woman implies that the budget crises was ignored. Well, it wasn’t a crisis and it wasn’t ignored but the 3 things she mentioned as negative are extremely positive to me.
I don’t see much point in responding to the people who make uninformed and idiotic posts on a Perry thread.
I know you do it for the lurkers and to try to explain how these people are totally wrong.
But I wonder if it wouldn’t be better just to totally ignore them and let the grownups talk among ourselves.
That’s what I’m trying to do.
I never, ever post to them.
However, Marcus Luttrell does actually know Rick Perry well the other so called seals do not even know Rick Perry. So you are comparing as Cain would say oranges to apples. I can tell you if they had the relationship Marcus has with Rick Perry, they'd love him too. IF any of the garbage out there and here at FR was true...Marcus Luttrell would have NEVER made that video. Marcus is a very honorable man.
I cannot believe that anyone, even the napper, could read that Navy Seal’s story, see what a hero he was, and then say, I don’t care what ‘that seal’ said. Tells me something about the dude.
I usually do not post back and some of them I do just ignore. I do not like to feed the Perry hater trolls. I actually hate posting Perry threads here at FR, but since CW is out of town for Thanksgiving, I am filling in for her.
See she doesn't grasp what conservatives care about. She is also kinda lying...emergency legislation was to put those items in first and what Perry deemed most important. It wasn't like it was a crisis, it was what Perry needed to happen and if it didn't happen in that session then he'd move it to the special session. Which did happen with sanctuary cities and it still wasn't passed, but Perry tried.
I also find people who've said Perry didn't keep his promise, he said he'd do such and such and it didn't happen. When you look into those promises, you find Perry did try to keep that promise but the legislation stopped him.
I personally appreciate it very much and it is a thankless job with what you have to deal with.
If somebody could explain to me what their problem is, I’d be interested. Might make a chapter in a book on disfunctional personalities.
They are either deep dem operatives, deep gop operatives, Paulbots or Romneybots. That should help you to realize who they actually are. OH they act like they support Cain or Newt, but they are lying. There are several FReepers who’ve tracked some of them and found they were deep dem operatives.
“I’m not too sure we actually have any true Navy Seals on FR. I have 4 active military and one is a Major MI Officer. I know how closed they are and how NONE would ever post at FR. There are plenty who claim to be Seals who are lying. “
Proof of your ignorance. Don’t believe everything you think.
