I have long been a proud member of the NRA. Today I received an unsolicited DVD from the NRA on home defense. I was instructed that, if I did not want to pay $ 12.95 and keep the DVD, I had to return it to the NRA.
First, this is unlawful. No one may be made to pay for something they did not order, nor are they obligated to return it.
Second, this is very disappointing. I have long found the NRA to be an honest organization made-up of lawful gun owners and others interested in the U.S.'s long tradition of shooting and hunting. This mailing should be immediately disavowed as a mistake and an apology given by the NRA.
Shame on you, NRA. You should know better. And do better.

Because you didn’t ask for this special DVD, you don’t have to participate or send it back and can consider it a free gift. No questions asked.
In other words, this whole thread has been pretty much a waste of time? Oh well, live and learn!
Sorry. NOT the letter I received and posted.
Not the letter I received.
I went back to look for the posted letter and don’t see it. Just your excerpt. It doesn’t matter anyway, the DVD is yours to keep for free. It’s the law. You pay nothing.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Here’s a reason to reject membership of the NRA and join GOA...

A few years ago I got one of those videos from NRA.
Didn't pay for it, didn't send it back, and didn't watch it.
But that's a good idea using it for target practice. Never thought of that!
You could use a reading comprehension course. The only thing the letter ( follow link in comment # 15) says is free is a damn coin.
Read the last check box item in the ‘MEMBER REPLY FORM’ at the lower right of the letter.
Hey Pab, what happened with this DVD offer?
