I have long been a proud member of the NRA. Today I received an unsolicited DVD from the NRA on home defense. I was instructed that, if I did not want to pay $ 12.95 and keep the DVD, I had to return it to the NRA.
First, this is unlawful. No one may be made to pay for something they did not order, nor are they obligated to return it.
Second, this is very disappointing. I have long found the NRA to be an honest organization made-up of lawful gun owners and others interested in the U.S.'s long tradition of shooting and hunting. This mailing should be immediately disavowed as a mistake and an apology given by the NRA.
Shame on you, NRA. You should know better. And do better.

If it came through the US mail, you can do anything you want with it - period.
On the other hand, I’m not so sure if that applies to UPS or Fed-Ex. My wife had a magazine that was sending her unsolicited books through UPS. We just began to refuse to sign for them and it stopped.
I let my membership go when they endorsed a Dim in my district who pretends to be gun friendly.
Sent me a DVD on basic welding with instructions to pay $12.99 and look forward to more "Go Fast for Dummies" videos - or return this one if you are so crass as to reject the 'offer".
I honestly don't remember if I returned it or not but the are now up to three pay up or else letters.
Just send it to me and if the FBI or USPS or BATF or the local landscaping guy shows up on your porch demanding the return of the disk, tell them I have it..........
Sheesh........(I'll freepmail you my address).
Correctamundo!
The NRA was the author of every federal gun control bill on the books, including recent laws denying weapons to Iraq war vets.
Shame on you for not getting your facts straight!
Have them prove you received it.
I got one of those a couple of years ago. I never sent money, the DVD is still in my desk drawer, and I never heard from them. I might watch it someday.
Shame on you for popping off with nonsense.
I got one of those DVDs a couple years ago. Threw it in the trash since I’d taken the Grayguns course. They sent me “please pay us” notices that I also threw in the trash. They stopped after a while. You’re in Mass like me - you’re covered; they can’t send you unsolicited crap and then demand payment by state law...
screwmall....
That sounds very strange. I would call them up and make sure its really the NRA. If so inform them that by law you don’t have to return the DVD unless the send you a return prepaid package for it.
NO IT DOESN'T! IT SAYS SPECIFICALLY HERE:
"I've sent this to you as a no-obligation preview so you can make the best informed decision about it."
That was a "PROMO DISK", if you want to buy the whole thing then you can.........
NRA, huh? You mean Harry Reid’s buddies....??
>> you dont have to return the DVD unless the send you a return prepaid package for it <<
They did, in fact, provide a postage-free envelope with the original mailing, with very simple return instructions. I made the return practically without effort. So I think all the bitching and moaning on this thread is nothing if not extremely childish.
(Not that I approve of the NRA’s cheap trick in sending the DVD. In fact, I sorta resented it. But I’ve got a lot more important things to occupy my time.)
>> “NRA, huh? You mean Harry Reids buddies....??” <<
.
That’s them.
Send the NRA a letter (or email) and tell them you are charging them a $20/month storage rate for their CD.
You are sadly mistaken about this group. The NRA’s David Keene is a well known crook.
Since Herman Caine the only thing one hears about anymore is the National Restaurant Association.
