Gabrielle Giffords book revives Sarah Palin criticism (Politico again!)

If there was a point of no return for Sarah Palin — when the former Alaska governor irreversibly undermined herself as a potential presidential canedidate — it may have come in the aftermath of the attack on Gabrielle Giffords, when Palin taped a video calling it a "blood libel" to criticize her for having targeted the Arizona congresswoman's district with a crosshairs symbol online.

In their new book, Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, make it clear that they objected to Palin's imagery themselves, and that Giffords raised concerns about it at the time:

"She was troubled that her district was one of twenty targeted on Sarah Palin's Facebook page and website," Giffords' husband, Mark Kelly, writes in their book "Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope."

Haven’t such words as “targeted” or “crosshairs” been used for decades figuratively not literally in politics?

Let’s see if the use of these words comes back during the 2012 election cycle.

Only an idiot would blame Sarah Palin for this. What happened to Congresswoman Giffords was terrible, and the trigger man should have been given help before he resorted to such violence. But as we know, he had a history with Cong. Giffords office for several years, long before Sarah Palin was on the scene.

But the lib media must continue to march on using more “victims” and finding skapegoats to blame.

It is my understanding that Palin used map symbols, not crosshairs, to show the location (on a map) for grassroots campaign work.............democrats have also used the same map symbols............

Democrats actually used crosshairs on a head pic of Bush 43 and other "enemies"..............

Giffords reminds me of Jim Brady. Both suffered irreversable brain damage. Both have been exploited by their spouses for political purposes.

Makes ya wonder, if Giffords were SO concerned about the target map, how come she didn’t have not even ONE security guard that day..not ONE..so if someone is oh so terrified of a map you would think she would have had actual security at such a publicized event
I have no ill will towards Gabby, I want her to get better, but as far as her husband goes..I think he is a prick. Do I commend him for standing by his wife and help take care of her, yes, but the second he made this about politics I lost all respect for him, he may be a good husband but he sucks at being a human being. The little 9 year old girl’s family didn’t make this about politics and neither should the Giffords. She was shot by a madman who was obsessed with her since 2007, teachers at his school were terrified of him, was that Sarah Palin’s fault too? Sarah Palin and her family deserve an apology because they were being accused of horrible things that they had absolutely NOTHING to do with. I wonder where the media was when they were getting death threats left and right *Crickets chirping*

I didn’t see the full interview, but in the snippet/promo video, Gabby describes her husband as “brave.” I was trying to find a longer version and found a few more snippets but don’t have time to keep looking.

I think Gabby is Kelly’s second wife though I could be wrong. He has an intensity about him that is a little bit creepy to me, but I’m not married to him. I admire his optimism and the way he has pushed Gabby towards recovery.
