The failure of the US media to properly vet the candidacy of Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential campaign can be cited as one of our country’s most harmful periods.
Yet, we see the same pernicious cycle being perpetrated against Herman Cain just four years later. They refuse to follow up on substantial allegations against Obama like those made against him by Larry Sinclair. but run with vapid lies from gold digging phonies.
To understand the media’s use of its enormous power against Republican, and especially conservative, candidates, we need to remind ourselves of how Clarence Thomas was cruelly treated during his Supreme Court hearings in the early ’90s.
Running under the current of a Black man who steps away from his deemed allegiance to the Democrat Party, liberals sought to punish Thomas by using the sub-rosa theme of a black man’s sexuality to bring him down.
Ted Kennedy’s savage attacks on Robert Bork could not be repeated on Thomas, so using the old canard of he- said-she-said, the mainstream media reached way out to Oral Roberts University’s teaching staff and brought Anita Hill into the spot light.
One blogger says, “The mind reels imagining the acrimony and snide remarks that would be made had a victim of Bill Clinton been employed at Oral Roberts University.”….
Thomas himself ended his hearings with a stirring rebuke when he said, “This is a circus. This is a national disgrace. It is a high tech lynching.”……
Do you recall the media demanding Obama’s explanation of why Larry Sinclair might have been lying when he alleged that he an Obama got drunk together and had homosexual sex? Of course not! Yet Sinclair was very up front and willing to answer any questions…

Um, it was far worse than getting drunk. Cheating on your wife and new baby with a strange man from out of town isn’t illegal. But according to Larry, Barack bought powder and crack cocaine and smoked the latter. That is illegal even if he weren’t a state senator at the time. But he was.
I will always believe that the only reason that boob Joe Biden got the VP slot is because he and his son used their power in a blatantly unconstitutional way to drag Larry Sinclair off the Press Club floor.
The Bidens were owed for that. There were never any charges against Sicclair, but I bet there were very serious threats.
There was a cartoon in the Reagan Sunday Funnies. At a track meet the Democratic donkey is easily jumping a three inch hurdle labeled “Moral Standards.” Beside him the Republican elephant is knocking over the same labeled hurdle but it is head high. The donkey says, “Hypocrite!”
They never asked about Larry Sinclair because that’s a homosexual affair, and the newsrooms won’t touch homosexuality or other creepy behaviors. They really “don’t want to go there”. It’s the same kind of political correctness that made people look the other way in the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State.
If Sandusky had been caught raping little girls, he would have been exposed, prosecuted, and jailed a decade ago. But he was raping little boys - - little black boys, mostly. Nobody wanted to go there. What would the “mainstream” Democrat newsrooms think? Would they jump Sandusky’s defense and destroy his accusers?
Let me know if you ever read a Sandusky story that uses the phrase, “predatroy homosexual pedophile”, or even just the word “homosexual” or “gay”.

Also, look for an interview with the mother of one of Sandusky's victims. She is hidden to hide her identity, but she is clearly African American.
By the way, the word is that of the 8 known Sandusky victims, 6 were black.

Dig a little? I have never seen a report on the racial identity of the victims. You stated that they were black. From what did you form that opinion? As to your reference to the interview with the mother, it is not clear what she was from the distorted siloutte and voice pattern.
When I say that I have read that 6 of the 8 victims were reported to be black, that is not an opinion. Google is your friend.

I for one have made it a personal committment to post refrences to Larry Sinclaire and his allegations on every Herman Cain story I come across.
If they want to focus on spurious allegations, that can work both ways. Journalistic standars should be the same for both stories.
