There is a legitimate need for 100W bulbs. I use them to warm my baby chickens. If you use the lower watt bulbs the light needs to be way too close to the birds for safety. Also, the Easy Bake Ovens require 100W bulbs. Silly, but it is a legal product, that will now be without a necessary component.

My #1 reason this outrages me...look at the lighting shelf in almost any store, what brand are 99% of the bulbs? General Electric. I refuse to purchase anything GE, but it's a real pain searching for light bulbs manufactured by someone else. GE has almost a monopoly on the market.

I refuse to buy anything made by GE and I noticed GE light bulbs are all made in China. I bought light bulbs at Wal Mart that were made in the US
