Jon Huntsman, then Newt Gingrich are Rep. Barney Frank's favorite GOP hopefuls (Video)

On Friday night’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO, Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Barney Frank, who is perhaps one of the most liberal members of the House of Representatives,” offered his suggestions on who the Republicans should nominate to face President Barack Obama in the 2012 election.

His first choice probably wasn’t a surprise, being he is arguably the least conservative in the field – former U.S. ambassador to China and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman.

“If I had to pick somebody to occupy the White House, it would be Jon Huntsman,” Frank said. “But I can — easily say for Huntsman because he is far too sane to be the nominee so I’ll never have responsibility for that.”

This is a damning endorsement, but maybe 18 years as House colleagues gives Barney some knowledge the general public doesn't have.

John Huntsman is a non issue..

Bawney Fag shuffled him in with Newt because Newt is suddenly a contender so as to poison his campaign.

Newt over the past few years has done enough to poison his own campaign....but he seems to back on track(the jury is till out be his debate comments are GREAT)....this scares Mr Fag and so he adds flames to the fire by favoring him.

You have the 100% correct read on this. Those with candidate pimping agenda’s won’t admit it, but this is the obvious conclusion.

Hmm so which Newt should I believe? The one from May 2011 who said the Individual Mandate in Obamacare was his idea or the one in Nov who said he thought the Individual Mandate was Unconstitutional?

Will the real Newt please stand up?

Truth be known, Barney has the hots for the suave-looking Jon Huntsman. As far as Newt, he was trying to sabotage Newt’s campaign.

Sorry Palin is not getting in the race. If she does, you will be every bit as frustrated with her as you are with the current candidates.

Palin only looks perfect because she is not in the race.

If she got in she would be subject to the same 24-7 hyper critical media attention. NO one can stand that sort of scrutiny because no human is ever going to be perfect.

Some of us were close to forgiving and forgetting about Newt’s abrasive remarks regarding “right wing social engineering”, among other things.

This raises a fresh red flag, imo.

Thanks for spilling the beans about Newt, Barney. The truth may hurt, but we still want the truth.

No, and if you’d been paying attention to the many threads you’ve weighed in on, you would know that. You would know I write for Cain at times, but that I am driven by ideas and not personalities. You would have read my tag line and known that I would never have had that gig were I a candidate pimp.

I like Cain. I like Newt. But I do not like your attacks on Newt and it does nothing to make me more predisposed to like Cain. Cain and Newt like and respect each other, which means that you are actually countering Cain himself in your pimping for him.

Think about it.

So the Cain train is still making the run over the cliff to bolster Romney? LOL. We have already been informed he says he would be Romney’s SOD. And on your dime I suppose.

As I was saying...Sarah Palin 2012 or bust.

Here`s how it can still happen, it all depends on Obama being challenged by a serious democrat running as a Independent(I use the term seriously lightly when referring to a democrat)

A liberal guy like Howard Dean, just to pick a name out of a hat, some lefty that is adored by lefties.

Then Sarah can get in and with a 4 way race have a good shot. If Romney was the nominee that scenario is not that far fetched

Do not get me wrong, Sarah could have won the GOP nod and beaten Obama, but that train has left the station probably? Still a write in run is possible with more implosions.

The “right wing social engineering” comment is a legit red flag.

Barney Frank is a conniving Democrat fag. Don’t think for a minute this is a heart felt endorsement. I mean really, do you really really think on an intellectual basis that Frank and Newt like each other and have any ideological common ground?

LOVE the passive aggressive nature of the GOP Establishment posters.

Perfectly fine for you to throw punches but how dare anyone question any of the approve GOP Establishment Candidates records!
