Maybe he will say he was abused as a child himself, when he testifies. Sometimes abused kids become abusers as adults.

You’re assuming too much to definitely say Paterno was in the cover-up.

Look, he’s egotistical, stubborn, and cranky. But as of yet, we can’t definitely add pedophile protector to that list.

I think it’s telling that everyone who knows Paterno would never expect that of him.

Are these guys all Catholic?

There are a lot of Catholic guys that are reading this and would all need confession after the beating that they'd administer to you after that question and implication.

I still think of a parallel time; and Michael Jackson and how our 'culture' and popular media covered that debacle. Not eight boys; but a house full of them and for years. Who stepped up to protect any of these children or even a few who most likely were victimized by Jackson. Those who accused; were of course; labeled as racist.

This may have little to do; save for a 'culture of corruption' does just that. It can erode Will and common sense; and invite silence. Could not help but contrast Geraldo's reaction to this abuse; compared with his constant defense of Jackson; whom; IMHO; did not deserve such uncritical inquiry.

What I do not understand, is how Sandusky was not watched more carefully; warned; or for that matter fired, from the get go; and yes; maybe above scenario gives some semblance of truth here. We do not know.

Of course the DA who was to prosecute; disappeared. No doubt a climate of fear; wrapping itself around some disbelief per human nature to make this all into something other than the damning violation that it was.

As for Paterno; seeing is not always believing; and hearing what someone saw; all the easier to deny. 'False memory syndrome' works both ways.

Remains incredible that doing the right thing; from the beginning seemed an impossibility; a bargain with devil; by everyone's rationale involved.

Well what it the Board of Directors of the University knew and covered up what they knew? This investigation may spill the peas on lots of new findings.

I’m busy so can’t get all the minute-by-minute updates, but I believe that the fans are having a blue-out in support of the victims, and there are many people purchasing shirts in support of them.

As for Paterno, I don’t think he is attending, but I am not sure.

And you think this ends with paterno? There is a followup, very quiet investigation going on right now that some of these young boys were being pimped out to wealthy donors.

It’s the only logical explanation

Live longer and learn. Such a statement is never true.

My whole sentences was this:

It’s the only logical explanation for that which I’ve seen so far other than McQueary being a goofy jock type that has to ask the coach permission to sneeze.

"for that which I've seen so far" is the operative part.

This implies that a) maybe there's a better explanation out there right now that I have not seen or b) may a better explaination will turn up in the future.

I absolutely agree that "It's the only logical explanation" as a statement by itself is usually proven incorrect...

The whole story is a sickening reminder of a truly ugly & evil side of life that has the capacity to suck otherwise decent but careless people around it into its filthy maw. Sickening.

why in hell the campus police are controlled by the university, instead of by the local city or county municipality.

Not sure if it is still true, but many small towns in PA did not have a municipal police dept. The university police may have been it - anything bigger that they could not handle was handled by state troopers.

My loathing of Michael Jackson has so few bounds that I actually believe “Conrad Birdie” (as I call him), should have walked. He was doing us all a favor.

For the record, the only thing I agree with in this interesting theory is that the McQueary guy may have been molested. It might (I say “might”) explain his awful response.

Between this and the Occupiers of Obama, I do believe evil is afoot in our land and that for some of us baby boomers (me!), the end is not going to be as nice as the beginning...

It’s definitely a plausible theory IMO, especially about how McQueary could continue to work w/ Sandusky.

"Sometimes abused kids become abusers as adults."

You can bet it's odds-on that what Sandusky's lawyer is going to resort to in the Defense's case. The thing is, you put away a 67-year-old for maybe 10-15 years on a 100+year sentence. There's no real sense of fairness, of justice.

Why does former Dolphin Receiver Jimmy Cefalo hate Paterno? I have heard him almost go on rants about Joe paterno, and his dislike for him. Jimmy Cefalo has a talk show in South Florida and does Dolphin game day coverage,is a stand up guy, and would have a lot to say about this I am sure. I have not heard him comment yet, but maybe he will soon.

Coming from Central NY,I remember where Syracuse University and Penn State had a huge rivalry, especially since they are just up or down Route 81 from each other. Paterno had a reputation for being a mean, nasty, creep with a dictator's personality. It was his way or the highway.

I believe that winning is everything to these people, and fans will over look almost anything as long as the team is winning. This is not just College, mostly Professional football, for Example former UM player now Baltimore Ravens player, who committed Murder and is lauded and celebrated, and is still on the Ravens payroll.

It is very disheartening when you realize that these Guy start College at about 18 years old.
